I got pulled over tonight by a statie for my side exit. It's definitely my fault, I was getting onto the hwy and as I'm on the on ramp I see one set of headlights in the left lane coming up as I just get into the straight merging section doing like 25mph and I'm like let's play match the speed of that car asap... well I tach out 2nd then go right to fifth I wasn't looking to speed or anything just wake myself up a bit, but as I did that I got to see the car I came up on was NH State police awesome The hwys are dark around here so I didn't see the markings until it was too late, just my luck. So he slows down gets behind me and then blues...
So the point of this thread, he tells me something is horribly wrong with the noise coming from my exhaust, it's way too loud. He doesn't say anything about it coming out the side or modifying it he just says it's too loud to be legal and that it would be way over 97db?? I didn't think we had a db limit law on cars in NH? I know there have been some changes over the years, I tried to google it but all I find is emission laws and nothing useful. End of story I get a verbal warning but if he sees me again and the car is still this loud car will be towed, and he made sure I knew it was in the "system" Anyone know the actual laws concerning exhausts in NH or have a link?

my buddy go pulled over for having a loud car(not a srt4) but he hollowed out his cat and no muffler so the cop looked under his car and said just to put one on... but did you have your paper with you???

he has a side exit, not stock, paper will show tips coming out the back haha
the law is to just take off on the cop because he can't catch you!!! haha i dont know about the exhaust laws up here but i haven't had any problems. and a lot of people say they get hassled for the stock exhaust.
Haha yeah I had the paper until I went with the side exit my photoshop skills are nonexistent lol I'll have to experiment in paint. My car never had the stock exhaust for the two years I've had it, I got pulled over once with my maxxfab 3" dp and the borla catbat and the statie gave me a ticket for not having mufflers lol the ticket actually read "no mufflers" he didn't believe the paper, well the judge did and it was dismissed but huge waste of time.
I guess it is totally up to the officer then on what is deemed "too loud" live free or die
you can take your grocery getter and have all the fun you want. ive had many cars, and aquired my taste according to my expirience. this is my 59th car. id say ive had the experience to aquire i good taste like my lambo doors and z3 fenders.
Well I cannot find the link now, but I used to have it saved to desktop. It does however mention that altering the exhaust from a stock configuration is illegal, but as a State Inspection officer (the ones with guns!) told me it is really up to interpretation, the cop, and the judge what is really illegal. Good luck in court!!

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."
I thought there wasn't one on automobiles, thank you! It is amazing that a statie is totally clueless lol I did find out there was one on bikes when I was researching which really surprised me for up here... obviously that one isn't enforced lol some of the hogs near me make your ears bleed
thats funny.. except from what i heard side exits are illegal on 4 door cars , so regardless of paper work the cop should know DOT would never aprove that lol. the stock exhust is debatable and worth fighting but not a side exit

I'm pretty sure it is a law in New Hampshire that your exhaust can't be too loud. We have like 4 signs all over Milford saying that you will be pulled over and get a fine from $100-$500 for making unusual excessive noise or something along those lines with your vehicle....I wonder if they would consider a blow off valve that haha
