Default 3rd gear Issues... Into Full Trans Replacement?

I've contacting a couple of repair shops to get soem thoughts on what I shoudl do about the lack of 3rd gear. After mentioning that I think the whole issue could be fixed by replacing the 3/4 synchro, every shop said I should do a "Like Kind and Quality" swap for $1900! Saying that other parts could be bent. Dodge Rebuilt goes for $3400. Blah... I thought i could replace the 3/4 synchro and be done with it. Any of this make sense?

Thats freakin' insaaaaane. I've gone through a few input shafts and a synchro and I used a guy in MD who would rebuild it for $400 bucks, installed. $200 if he was just rebuilding. He's awesome and could maybe work with you on shipping if you're interested.

1900$ is stupidly high. Ask some people if they know any good transmission guys.
