An annoying problem when you're registering for this site and enter the "image verification" wrong (since it doesn't say case sensitive but it is) It erases your whole "mod list." After typing out a huge list and having it erased, frustration ensued.

Ya lets not fix a problem, just make a joke. If I knew I had to copy what I typed in case it would be deleted this would've been great advice.... not. Your registration site should say "case sensitive" and your info doesn't get deleted anywhere else, but the mod list box.

why does the search make you use more then 3 letters? so if i wanna search Stage 1or BC stage 2 cams 180 thermo stat etc etc.......
Because look at the number of words in your post that are less than 4 letters. If search could search 3 letters or less, it would have to go through all of them and it would kill the site.
I also bolded the words in my post.

or just fill it out once you are registered. You can edit all of that in your User CP area.

Couldnt you just create a list of words such at those you bolded and put them on a blocked list? Kind of like curse words being blocked and not allowed to be in messages. I know we have it on some local forums that do block certain 3 letter words such as I, the, and, of, are, it, in, you, be, me, he, she, they, etc. Then again you could always block everything and add certain words on an exceptions list such as DCR, AGP, PTP, SCT, etc. Many people including myself would love to search for vendors names to see not only there new products, but any issues people are having with them. Sure you can go to there vendor forums and see what is new and you have a section for vendor issues, but information is not always in the correct forums as we all know. Since you cannot search for BC + Cams, or Crane + cams, etc your out of luck on finding any past history on that. Your now going to have to post and hope someone chimes in or look for hours in the section "Cylinder head and valvetrain" looking for the info.

That would be ideal. The problem is getting it done. It can't be done by anyone but the site owner and they may have their reasons for not doing it. It's something that I'd love to see changed, because I have had trouble finding information in the past because of the search requirements. I think if we got this done, we'd need a list from you guys, the users, of words you'd like to see in the search.

True I think they have there reasons...the main being keeping people from making useless searches and hogging bandwidth. I am sure it bogs down the servers if someone searched for 3 characters or less. More then likely that is the reason. I am sure if they did it then we could have a thread started by an admin in which they updated the list with names we all agree on. Maybe make a top 10, 15, or 20 3 character letter words to search on...maybe some sort of voting system and then final judgement comes from the moderators. Somehow this would need to include all the vendors as well since they are paying as well.
Why has the 'edit post' been changed to not allow you to edit posts that past a certain time period? This really screws things up if you have a specific thread that has ever changing information in the original post, such as...
Now we have new owners popping up from time to time and I have no ability to add them in, can we get this fixed? I really don't understand why this change was ever implemented, it is, for lack of a better term, dumb, and quite likely aimed at some silly off topic issue.
EDIT: Okay, and when I tried to manually input the post number into the edit field I get this nonsense -

There is a limit on how many edits you can do, apparently. We've run into that ourselves for section mods who maintain threads outside of their section. Right now it doesn't seem there's a setting we can change to fix the problem but i'll bring it up to the admins when I see them online next time.
We do want a time limit set in place for certain sections, though. But, it seems that we can't do it on a per section basis.

There are only a handful of people (less than 5 active) who have the ability to even see what the settings are. Right now one is on vacation, one is crazy-busy with work, one is crazy-busy with work/school, and the other is busy with a number of forums he is paid to manage. If I see any online I'll ask.
