what does it take for the president to be impeached?
Im just curious since I really dont know what it would involve and who would have to approve it
forgive me if it sounds like a stupid question but with the way things are going lately Im really trying to take more of an interest in politics especially since Im getting older and it more directly pertains to me than it did when I was younger

impeachment happens when the government has a need to fill up the media with more mindless crap and take heat off the system.

"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day. But a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers (administrations), too plainly proves a deliberate systematic plan of reducing us to slavery." - Thomas Jefferson
Don't think he has done anything yet to warrant impeachment...but socialism should be an impeachable offense...along with calling America "arrogant"

Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
The tough one to prove is the "high crimes and misdemeanors" part. There's alot of vaguery and wiggle room in that interpretation. (see Clinton's deal.)
Andrew Johnson was impeached in 1868 after violating the then-newly created Tenure of Office Act. President Johnson was acquitted by the Senate, falling one vote short of the necessary 2/3 needed to remove him from office, voting 35-19 to remove him.
Bill Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998 by the House of Representatives on articles charging perjury (specifically, lying to a federal grand jury) by a 228–206 vote, and obstruction of justice by a 221–212 vote. The House rejected other articles. One was a count of perjury in a civil deposition in Paula Jones's sexual harassment lawsuit against Clinton (by a 205–229 vote) and an article which accused Clinton of abuse of power by a 48–285 vote. The Senate fell short of the necessary 2/3 needed to remove him from office, voting 45-55 to remove him on obstruction of justice and 50-50 on perjury.
Richard Nixon was never impeached. While the House Judiciary Committee did approve articles of impeachment against him and did report those articles to the House of Representatives, Nixon resigned before the House could consider the impeachment resolutions and was subsequently pardoned by President Ford.
So technically speaking, no president has ever been removed from office by impeachment.
Oh and people, learn your history already, and learn to use GOOGLE properly. this took me all of 5 minutes to collect.
Head of state is the moral side of the leadership and president is the "CEO" side of the leadership. Our president does both, so he can be impeached by violating either function. Correct me if I am wrong please..
If Bush can get away with shitting on the Constitution for eight years and gaining morons' support, what makes you think Obama is even close to impeachment?
