Obama, faithful wants gas tax Elect Jeff
^ US Senate Video “I just paid under $2.00 for gas. This would be a perfect time to Increase the gas tax a dollar. We need the money and we need to encourage alternative fuel use and public transportation. I call on congress to increase the gas tax a dollar next year and use that money for alternative energy research and infrastructure improvements. If Americans have shown their willingness to pay $4 a gallon for gasoline. It is important we don’t lose the gains of the last year in fuel efficiency and alternative vehicles due to low gas prices. Higher gas tax would also allow the government to spend on infrastructure creating more jobs. It’s a win win.” President-elect Obama "high gas prices are good for America."

I didn't vote for Obama, but I agree that gas prices should be artificially inflated to encourage less travel and discourage big vehicle usage. The amount of SUV's I still see on the road is disgusting, I count 1 small car for every 10 SUV's at work everyday.
We need to work towards a smaller, higher mileage vehicle majority in this country again. Otherwise people will just fall back into the same old retard mentality they did after the 74 oil crisis.

We weren't willing to pay $4 a gallon. We were forced to. Same thing will happen if the price of gas goes way up again. We all will use less gas. The senator is an idiot.

Whoever wrote that quote hasn't the slightest clue as to why gas prices went down.
![]() It has no barring either way. It’s the fact that those who don’t care about the price are the ones who want to raise it. This will hurt the economy further. The Democrat’s ideologies of how to solve problems are incompetent. Again they have blocked the republicans from trying to get the United Stats to become more energy independent. Same old broken record.

WTFUK That is every American’s right. Who are you to tell me I cant drive a truck everyday? Just because you can’t afford a large car, you want everyone else to be forced to drive a compact. Isn’t that some bull shit. *All 4 of vehicles weight more than 4000lbs. My vehicles are also much safer than any compact. You don’t seem to realize there is no energy crisis. There is more oil on the earth tha all other resources besides water. You have been blinded by some sort of idea, that gasoline is killing us all, and we will be extinct because before the next century because of it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with anyone who wants to drive large vehicles. Your ideology would simply let the "rich" drive larger vehicles while everyone else has to drive in throwaway shit boxes. Where are you from? Seriously. You know what they pay for gas in some South American nations? 12 cents. Oil is he cheapest and most abundant resource available. We pay so much because of politicians. Wake up.

Same old broken record. I can't figure out why a few powerful politicians would stop our drilling for oil except maybe the Saudis are providing cash in their hands to stop it. That 800 million that we send to our enemies is ruining our economy and threatens our national security. |

I don't want to see it go up either.. It jumped almost a whole dollar in a day. I was very happy that gas was 1.50.. Should've known it wouldn't be like that for long.

I think a gas tax would be a good idea.
Having higher gas prices will give America more of a reason to become energy independent and will create alot of alternative energy jobs. It will also give the government some much needed money to pay for its debts, and future infrastructure projects. people who want large vehicles can still have them, they just have to pay more to run them.
