Default Church and Politics

Brewer tells pastors she, staff rely on prayer | Arizona local news - Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Queen Creek, Phoenix, Scottsdale | eastvalleytribune.com | eastvalleytribune.com

I'm so glad the governor of my state relies on prayer instead of intellect and logic to make decisions.

Thoughts?

If you don't like him, don't elect him. Obviously enough people think he's competent if he got elected.

Meh.. Whatever helps the bish focus. Whether or not god is actually listening, prayer is like meditation. It let's you organize your thoughts and problems.

Edited for accuracy.

Way to read the article. Our governor is a woman who was placed into her position after our old governor was given an obamamessiah position. She wasn't elected.

So she was the LT Gov?....and therefore elected with the previous Gov...or?

Whats wrong with prayer? Why do you fear prayer? Worried they might be right?

Whatever she does, I would rather have her as governor than Janet Neopolitan.

Yeah I am having a hard time seeing a huge problem here. On one hand, if god is make believe, they are just talking to themselves and looking a little nuts for it. On the otherhand, if god is for reals and listening, then maybe they will receive the divine inspiration they seek

Also, I noticed the talk she gave looks to be at a church pew. Since she is a politician I'd say their is a strong chance she was just pandering to her crowd. Because well.. That's what politicians do.

This would be the exact reason we have a gov't with a lack of morals, ethics, values and can't/won't answer to the public. Any one notice that since we've take God out of schools and out of our gov't that we've steadily been heading deeper into the depths of depravity?

Lack of religion doesn't necessarily mean lack of morals.

I'm not a bible thumper by any means, but morals have no meaning without guidelines or laws and that came from some type of belief system called religion.

You may not had got your morals from religion but your parents may had religion and you got it from them or the generation before them.

I disagree. Religion is just one type of a prescribed set of morals. I am not anti-religion, just saying that not everyone gets their morals from religion.

There are universally accepted "good morals." This can be seen if you compare all the many different religions throughout history. All religions serve as a control method for the people. The morals that form the base of the religion existed before the actual religions existed.

You may be right, I hadn't thought of it that way.
