Just go online and make the reservation for the Sport trailer. They will bring one to a local U-Haul if there isn't one within 50 miles. Works for me all the time. They bring them from Columbia (~100 miles south of me) to my local depot. Make sure they bring it early so you can look at it and make sure it doesn't need any maintenance.
I usually do this by making two reservations. One for a week or two before my actual trip. I cancel that one 24 hours before pick-up, which doesn't cost me anything and it lets me inspect the trailer a week before my trip.
LMK if you can't get the hitch, I may be able to help.

Thanks 1Lap, yours is the one I've seen most often and frankly, if it's good for OLoA it'll be jut fine for me.
I did place a reservation online for one, but only after I spoke with the local place. They called corporate to see about getting one, and corp. told them not to even take the reservation.
We'll see what happens, but this doesn't seem to be popular around here and my impression is that they won't even consider bringing one to the area. I'll see what they say tomorrow when they call to confirm the reservation.
The hitch is a cluster-fuck. 7 business days after receiving the 3-4 business days before shipping, they claim it won't be in PRODUCTION from the manufacturer until the 1st of July. Which really puts me and Murphy (you all know his Law) against each other.
I was very pleased to have the customer service rep tell me that she could send a different brand hitch, since they were 'all the same, just different stickers'. Based on the fact that the instruction sheet was identical for all 3...
I love when $8/hr call center reps provide TECHNICAL advice!

IIRC my hitch came with a generic instruction sheet as well. Which one did you order and which one are they going to send?
I was aware about the generic instruction sheet, and that the 3 hitches mount similarly if not identically.
I think I did score a few points when I asked that if they were all the same, why was it such an issue to get the 'right' sticker on the generic hitch?
I ordered the Reese Insta-hitch (sku:77052) and I'm still hoping that it will be on its way in time. Which I understand should work without any serious modification to hitch or car. The others will also work, but I think that they needed some cutting and welding to work without interference. Frankly, I'd tell them to cancel it before I'd take her advice. She also led me to believe that if it didn't work, they'd pay shipping both ways and no re-stocking fee. CS Manager, cleared that up and let me know that I would be responsible for all those charges...
The cutting bothers me a little, but the welding is the biggie. No welder or skills here.
U-Haul Sport trailer FTW! Broken Turbo's FTL ! ! !
that is why if I get serious into racing I'll invest in a tow vehicle and trailer.
and yea... that sure as hell can't be legal

I've got the trailer, but since we were testing for One Lap, we figured may as well drive it down, just like in the race....
For NASA weekends, I always tow to the track so I can break it and still get home.
That truck and trailer belonged to the vette behind my car and he just threw on his street tires (make-shift rain tires just in case) and followed us to my shop. We then unloaded my car and put his onthe trailer and he continued home to ATL.
Funny thing is I had never met him before my car broke and he just threw me the keys to his truck and said lets go, I'll follow you...
I've got the Draw Tite 24701 sitting on the floor of my garage. All it needed was two holes drilled in the bumper beam.
No bumper cutting or exhaust problems? And why's it on the floor of the garage?
Course, I'm still working on the trailer. Really, I don't think I'd use either of them all that much. I can put tires and such in the back seat normally, but it will come in handy for roadtrips.

I only use it once a year for One Lap....
I just rolled the bumper (only about half rolled actually) and the only thing you see if the square receiver sticking under the bumper. Very clean if you ask me...
I have a SEE but others have said it fits great with the factory exhaust.
Do a search on the Part # 24701 and it brings up a thread with all the different hitches and fitment issues.
