Well, I have a dewing'd black SRT4. These sunny hot summer days are pissing me off and I want to get my windows tinted so it's not 300 degrees inside the car. BUT! They're illegal in MI (front windows at least).
Anybody have a black SRT4 dewing'd with tinted windows? Has it attracted a lot of unwanted POPO attention?
btw, this is the stuipidest law ever. You can literally hang curtains in the back window for 0% visibility... but you can't do ANYTHING to your front ones.
Hey man, I think I saw you the other day on Silverbell in front of the dump? I have a black one with a big front mount. I have all of my windows tinted and havn't been hastled about it yet. In fact I got pulled over and the cop was like "hey, roll that passenger side window up for me". I told him it was already rolled up all the way and he goes "well, that tint isn't that bad". Then he let me go. BTW, I was pulled over for speeding...not the tint. I can't remeber was % it is, but limo in the back and a few steps lighter up front. Looks good though and helps alot with the heat.

I hate being profiled... Here's my progression:
- 98 Cavalier, riced out to the max, body kit, big spoiler... and tinted windows. 20% in back, 35% on fronts. I got 3 tickets in 2 years for tinted windows. Once, I got pulled over JUST for the windows! Nothing else!
- 2001 Grand Prix GTP, totally stock appearance. 20% all around. Never got hassled once in 1.5 years.
- 2004 SRT4, stock appearance for about 1 year. Got profiled (probably because of the spoiler) out of a group of law breakers and got pulled over (made an illegal left along with everybody else). I was in the middel of the pack.
I'm thinking maybe (if they make it ) like a 50% in the front and 20% in the back. Maybe they'll let that go...
My pickup truck has 15% on the back 3 windows and 50% on the front windows, and I have never even been looked twice at.
Factory tint on cars isn't illegal, the usual factory tint is 25% on the rears and 85% on the fronts. I would go with like 60-70% on the fronts and 18-25% on the backs and they will have a hard time telling if it is factory or not while your rolling by. A couple of the Toledo area guys have been popped for tint in both Michigan and Ohio with like 15% all the way around.

My Yellow SRT-4 Windows are Totally Tinted (5%), and I get harrassed by the police all the time.
I worked in Sterling Heights at the DCX SHAP plant and was harrassed all the time by the cops. I lived in Flint, and was harrassed all the time. I live in West Michigan now, Holland/Grand Rapids and I get harrassed all the time.
I usually get pulled over 1-2 times a Month, depending on how often I drive and where. I usually get 3 tickets a year for Illegal Window Tint.
The only thing is I have a prescription for Window Tint on ALL my windows...minus the windshield.
The ticket is H 709 Civil Infraction (Window Tint Violation). If you want more information read Act 300 of 1949, 257.709 to learn about the actual Tint Laws that governs this.
I can also see the use of this law, especially in the D-Town Area...look how easy it would be for a Gang-Banger to have a Gun out and ready and the cop would have no idea what he is walking into. And trust me, occassionally the cop that pulls me over for the Window Tint exagerates and pulls his gun from behind his open cruiser door and yells for me to step out.

Tint Factory in Grand Rapids, MI is the BEST place I have ever used...any where in Michigan.
They offer Regular and Premium Tint.
Premium comes with a lifetime protection against bubbling and peeling, and offers from 60%-2.5% Tint. I went with 5% all around. I would go to them no matter where in Michigan I lived.
The price last time I checked (6 months ago) was $150 for ALL Windows for $150 (Regular), and $180 (Premium). Take off $35 if you don't want the front windows.

That is f'n retarded. Ok, so you can't tint the front windows because they're worried about the driver having a small gun.... Yet you can limo tint the back windows and you could put a person in the BACK SEAT with a f'n bazooka and the cop wouldn't have a clue...

Is the 50% pretty dark? It's obviously not 20%... but does it keep a good amount of heat/light out?

I would be interested to know how you got away with the windshield tinted...seeing as that is 100% Illegal throughout the US. That is a Federal Law.
