as far as e-check goes, your check engine light must not be on, you should have a cat on the car (but some places don't check), and the driver side window must roll down. they will just hook a obdII scanner to the car and read codes, if you don't have any you should be good. they'll also pressure test the gas cap.
Ok, that sounds easy enough, thanks. Can any one tell me about the tint? I dont want to change it if I dont have to.
i believe the tint must be 50% or higher on the drive and passenger front side windows, and on the back window. the back side windows can be all the way down to 0%. i have 20% all around on mine. my front sides will have to be stripped off during state inspection.
i dont think they check the tint during an e-check tho. just during a state inspection, and any time you get pulled over.
guys....correct me if im wrong.
and ray, where do they not check if you have a cat on?
What do u mean by state inspection? The lady I talked to said I have to do a physical inspection of my car (so I'm guessing that's the state inspection) and then I have to go to another place and do an e-check. The place I have to go to for the physical inspection is in downtown on superior (like between 12th and 13th street). I'm not too worried bout the cat, I'll just replace it when I'm done.

A few guys I work with go to the e-check on Puritas, they've gotten away with no cats the past couple times.
nice...i may be taking advantage of that

to be 100% honest, i dont even know. i bought my car from a tennessee. i talked to a few people at the bureau and title places, and they said that before i title my car, i need to take it somewhere to get inspected. they said inspections are done at state highway patrol testing stations. i had no idea about that, and it didnt make too much sense. well i never did even try to figure it out, and i went to get my title this past friday. the lady said i had to get the car inspected. apparently, you just need to actually bring the car to the title place, so that they can just compare VIN numbers. lol i think that may be all you need to do. disregard what i had said before.
and actually, i was at the same title place you were. the physical inspection is exactly what i was told as well. HOWEVER, i have a feeling they will look at tint as well. thats probably what they meant when i was told a state officer looks at the car. must be there??? i dunno man. as soon as i get my stupid car running again ill be up there ASAP and let you know how it goes.
There is a echeck station near my house in warrnsville. They didn't check for a cat or they thought my resonator was a cat. They checked for codes and pressure checked the gas cap. That was it. After that the guy said I didn't even need a check since my car is a 05 and is exempt from the inspection until 09 but I passed the check anyway. As long as you have something that looks like a cat and no cel you should be ok. This stuff about having the car inspected by the highway patrol or whatever, I've have no clue about.

Yeah that was what I thought. I read that our cars were exempt until 09 because of the year. I'm putting the cat back on it today and I'll be shipping my car back in about 2 weeks. Still debating if I'm going to take the tint off or not. Maybe I will just for the time being until I get to texas. Even if they dont care in the inspection, doesn't mean the cops wont. Has anyone ever had dark tint and ever got pulled over for it?
