i did read the article... "The administration official said Obama's government will not transfer detainees to countries that will mistreat them, including their own home country."
the only other federal prisons we have are in this country and since they said at the end of the article what i quoted above it would be my understanding that it superceeds what was said above it in this paragraph "An estimated 245 men are being held at the U.S. naval base in Cuba, most of whom have been detained for years without being charged with a crime. Among the sticky issues the Obama administration has to resolve are where to put those detainees — whether back in their home countries or at other federal detention centers — and how to prosecute some of them for war crimes."
which means our federal prisons are all that is left
So, you assume they will end up in our prisons?
And like I said, yet to be resolved.

i agree with you guys he won and i want to see his plan succeed so our country can get back on its feet again...but its not all out country, the whole globe is like this and its all part of a cycle
[Bush rant] blah blah blah[/Bush rant]
Blaming the current economic situation exclusively on the Clinton administration is akin to citing Anheuser-Busch for every case of alcoholism in the country. Sure, Anheuser-Busch (the administration) makes the beer and distributes it, but responsibility also rests on the the shoulders of its vendors (lenders/banks) to distribute the beverages to only those who are lawfully allowed to consume it (lendees), and then it is the end user's responsibility to consume it in an appropriate manner (don't bite off more than you can chew). Yes, Clinton's administration played a part in the current economic state, but do you seriously believe that the Bush administration had nothing to do with it? This was a long time coming, so why weren't the proper counter-measures taken to circumvent the problem? DO NOT pretend for a second that you are somehow more enlightened than I about the topic.
It should be noted that nobody has ever come in to this thread, unprovoked, with the sole purpose of downplaying or bashing the Bush administration or republican views. I've only ever responded to the crying, bitching and moaning of others. I don't give two shits whether a Donkey or an Elephant is in office. If he/she does the job well, then fine, so be it.
I can agree to disagree. Can we keep the this kind of stuff in off-topic from now on? All it does is agitate people, including myself.

for all you who don't already know how this credit crisis happened you have a lot of reading to do. you may hate bush, but it was not him that did it. don't take my word for it, do something for yourself and learn something: go read about it. some of the people who benefitted [most] from the crisis are now part of O's cabinet ( don't give me crap about not liking O because this is a fact, not my opinion). be responsible for your own knowledge and do some research, don't just believe what you see on the nightly comedy show (the news).
I don't know you, so I won't get into it.

There is also the availability of detention centers in Guam, Okinawa, Germany, and several other bases in the south pacific. Not to mention that constitutionally, federal prisons cannot hold prisoners of war, or military, or field captured combatants for that matter.

there are also a lot of things that people are trying to challenge and change the constitution...also that can mean nothing to the people that are in office when they rarely listen to the citizens of the country anyways and make their own decisions
like the bailouts...80% of american citizens were against it but somehow it all went through and 60 million of it is just to buy new vehicles for government personnel
i agree with what bryan says so i am going to restore it
