Question Missouri SRT4 owners

I am curious what the personal property tax was on your vehicle. I want to know what I should budget and expect. I know there is something with the tax rotation that causes a bi-year on your first year of ownership. So I guess this question only pertains to an 03 owner. While on the subject... does anyone know how that bi-year thing works? Like, if I were to buy my SRT in the last week or two of December, would I have to pay next year, making the rest of this year my bi year (have to pay next year)? ... But if I wait a few weeks after, until January, does that mean I won't have to worry about Personal Property tax on it until the end of the year 2005 (damn near 2 full years away)?

I am looking to by a house and trying to figure a long-term budget for the next few years. I haven't bought a new vehicle since I bought my truck in 96 so I am not sure what the running rate is these days. My truck is less then $100 now.
Thanks for any insight.

I just got my personal property tax bill. I am paying, based on what I owned at the beginning of this year. Which was a 95 F150 and my 01 Neon R/T.
R/T $216.40
F150 $122.90
Total tax $339.30

Buy a car after Jan 1 2004,and you won't pay personal property tax on it till dec. 2005

Next years bill will probably be over $500 for the R/T and the SRT.

We have to pay property tax on anything licensed. This includes trailers as well. You have to pay license fees every year or every 2 years. I do mine every 2 years. This includes safety inspection and emissions testing.

Thanks Jenet... that clears it up. It's just as I had thought, but I just wanted to make sure. I started to think that maybe it revolved around the tax deadline in March rather the end of the year. ...I'm currently on hold for a silver and hopeing it won't come in until at least January. I know all the lots in the area seem to be getting them right and left now. Hell, the last inventory search I did came up with 4 black ones in the St..Louis region. I'm not sure if Westport still has the rare Yellow 04 tho. Seems that sat there for ever. Almost every local dealer has at least one now. They are asking for the world still tho. ... I'm not that desperate, especially this time of year. Let the snow season end then I'll be more subjected to the "here's my arm, here's my leg" sale.

(I'm a little drunk, and a lot tired so please forgive me for not proofreading this)

I think the Yellow one is gone.I think there is a Black one now. (Trying to look as I drive by)
Pringals,if you ordered one and it comes in before the end of year, you're screwed. That happened to my parents a few years back. The Suburban they ordered came in like 12/29. Because it was ordered, the paperwork was started. My parents didn't get it until the 3rd or 4th of January. They paid the taxes, got the plates.Everything was fine until the following year, when getting new stickers. They hadn't listed it as owning it the year before,bc they didn't get it until after January 1,so it wasn't on the personal property tax receipt.. Well, the title and all the paperwork was dated december. What a mess. They had to go to Clayton to pay the extra personal property tax. Plus late fees. They never even looked at the date on the paperwork. They never thought about it.

Thanks Janet... that is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. No, I don't have one ordered, but I have several deals working with a few great salesmen in the area who are promising me the first silver to hit their lot. There is one in particular I'm working with, but you need a backup plan. I am hoping for mid January, then I will probably just store it in my best friends garage until the snow days are gone, all while modding it with this and that. (look for my "Wish List" post I will one day get around to posting)

Have you done a dealer inventory search lately? There seems to be tons of Black and Blue 04's showing up. I thought they would be the rare colors to get.
