Yeah true. The timing belt was replaced 10,000 miles ago so I assumed he did the other belts as well but I will just replace the others.
Seems like a pain in the ass to change belts on this car lol. its not too bad, it's just cramped, that's all. be thankful you dont have to change the timing belt yourself, that is a major PITA, haha i just got done doing it on my car. |

Yeah, definetely seems like a tight space and I am glad the t belts been done. I'm used to Hondas and Subarus so this is a whole different ball game haha. Where you located? Help me do my belts? lol Does anyone know what the little rubber elbow would be called or have a part number for it that connects to the red/orange vacuum line then to the throttle body/intercooler pipe? Mine has a hole in it where it connects to the barb fitting on my aftermarket hard-pipe. Circled in green in this picture:

Just use a vacuum hose to a 90 tee to vacuum hose to red line or they may just sell a ne at autozone.

Well the red line is tiny and the brass barb fitting on the hard pipe is way bigger so I need some sort of reducer. Whatever is on there now, assuming its the factory elbow, fits good but has a hole in the rubber. There is no tee, its just the red line to the intercooler/throttle body pipe. Subaru.... where are you located?... and to be able to get that factory elbow for the boost reference line "red line" you need to buy the entire red vacuum line.
![]() But Wu is right, just get an assortment pack of vacuum elbows and t's and something should work ... make sure you zip tie the hell out of everything when done. |

I'm in Charlotte, about 20 minutes west of Lansing. Well that's a bummer, I thought maybe it would turn out to be a whole "kit". Yeah I will probably stop by an auto parts store after work and take a look. I've already zip tied most vacuum lines. |

you can get them as an entire kit, but if i remember right. Its a little costly, the absolute best thing to do it get rid of all the hard plastic lines and put in hard lines (i used powder coated brake line (3/16)), this will prevent any future possibility of a boost leak in the vacuum system as well as providing the electronics a much more accurate signal. If your car is pretty much stock, these cars are pretty fussy about the vacuum system, unless you remove it all and bypass it all with a custom tune.

I'll definitely keep that in mind. The car has a Mopar stage 1 ecu, jmb cold air intake, hard upper pipe, turbo xs rfl bov and some wastegate arm thing that keeps the wastegate tight which apparently makes spooling quicker (Have never seen it before, heard it was a 1 off Needswings product). Anyone have a stock surge valve for sale and upper intercooler/throttle body pipe.
I'm really sick of my turbo xs rfl having BAD compressor surge. I don't understand how all these videos or the turbo xs rfl on youtube have zero comp. surge and I have a shit load when shifting at low rpms. Last edited by SubaruPowa; 02-28-2013 at 08:47 PM. |
