Default Gotta Bitch about the 05 newbs

Ahhh I am SO frustrated right now with some of the newb 'tuners' on this board. Now I know how frustrated some of you old folk's get... This idiot I was helping last night... "Im throwing tip/map miscompare what do I do?"
So I said, have you tried the EdTip mod?
"No, I hear it doesn't work on the 05's."
Have you tried it?
"no."
Well then what the fuck do you expect? What are you doing that causes this code?
"Driving in PTB... Not letting my foot all the way off the gas after going WOT"

Jesus. As far as I understand it, only the omniphill PTB eliminator will keep him from throwing that code. This is just a problem with going aftermarket... You lose the driveability for the cheap, effective power.

Then, the guy is complaing about an overboost code, and he has a map clamp. So, I have been trying to figure out what could be throwing this code. Maybe a map/tps miscompare? Something new on the 05's that I need to start worrying about... Start diggin a little deeper...
ME: Whats your map voltage after the map clamp and what PSI are you pushing out of the wastegate?
HIM: Clamp is set at 4.65 volts; I am pushing 18psi out of the wastegate.
ME: JESUS FUCKIN CHRIST. DO YOU NOT READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE MAP CLAMP? 4.65 or whatever the fucking voltage he had it set to clamp at, equaled 16psi, which will trip a code on the 05's! Jesus plain as day... If the people would only read the damn directions! I swear to god, I wonder if there really are any differences between the 04's and the 05's, or if the 05 tuners are just all card carrying members of the short bus squad.

Sorry, just had to vent.

Not saying he's right, but there are a few differences on the 05's. Disconnecting the red hose won't change an overboost code for example...also, the 05 comps learn when you make changes and will compensate for it unless you upgrade to the S1...a lot of us(including the veterans) figure they did this to force you to buy more parts after learning the 03 and 04's were finding ways around it...it's all about making money...so yes, a lot of this is true...I dunno if his is, but differences DO exist. Sorry some people are ignorant if that's the case though.

With Newbies all you have to do it tell them about the WGA Mod.

Step One:

Remove the Line that goes to the WGA.

Step Two:

Do NOT replace.

Step Three:

Have fun w/ HIGHER BOOST that the PCM cannot counter act.

F.A.Q.

Is it safe?
Yes.

What does it cost?
$0.00

How much Boost can I achieve?
25+ psi.

Can I add Stickers?
Yes.

Will this void my warranty?
No.

Saturn actually, while I did a rebuild on a 63 Corvette Convertible & a 67 Camero SS that were destroyed in the Tornadoes of North KCK in 2003. Bummer they are both N/A cars... I really wish I had more experience on the turbo side.

I will be the first to admit that I am a newb on the SRT, especially the 05's.

Let me amend my irritance about the 05 newbs. They don't know how to fucking read. Its like every rich kid in America who couldn't afford the STI or EVO bought the SRT. Now, instead of putting pride and joy into their work, and experimenting with their cars, they go, Help, I am getting code pxxxx, what does this mean. How bout the fucking search button? How bout trying to find the solution on your own? Where did the pride of solving a problem or achieving a goal go? The posts I love to read the most are Omniphill's posts. Why, because he presents a problem and attempts to figure out a solution. I really think Dominion nailed the problem with the 05 pcm. I would bet money the pcm now compares tps, map and tip data to verify. I think I have found the solution, but its gonna have to wait until my parts arrive, hopefully by the end of August. Trust me, after I figure it out, I will be on here flaunting my shit in front of everyone who goes, you need a Stage 1 pcm upgrade for an 05. Fuck off, there's always 2 ways to skin a cat.

I can agree with that. I also could be wrong about the 05's learning thing...but I have NEVER heard of an 03 or 04 getting over boost codes after removing/capping the red line. Not only do I get overboost codes, but fuel cut in 4th and 5th(yes I run a boost controller to get 20psi...and yes I have S2 injectors so I'm running rich as a pig, instead of lean, until I get my map clamp and wideband O2...I also have a wga so I don't break the stock one). If you can find a way around this without a S1 pcm and without spending 4 times as much, PLEASE let me know how. I will be the first to appologize. I haven't found a way yet(more affordably than S1). No one in my group has overcome it yet on 05's. Not to say it can't be done! I still have no idea how to overcome the overboost code(fuel comps are not cheap, but that may be where the answer lies for most of the problem). Good luck on that.
