We used to have a place called ThunderDome out here near me with midget modifieds. It was a standard 1/20 mile quarter midget track, but was polished concrete and had about 10 degrees of banking in the corners! Talk about fun shit! On the high groove they would put down some track bite and you got a nice layer of rubber down up there. On the bottom groove they put talcum powder down every 10 laps or so. With this combination it was just like racing on dirt (slideways )! The drivers from the local dirt track used to come in on Sundays and during the off-season to keep their skills up. I loved it when I would actually keep up and even beat them!
I used to race in 200 lappers that they had at this place. They'd turn off the governors and actually let you bump and bang! Now THAT was some fun kart racing. Too bad they aren't in business anymore. Now all we have is Arnold's. The karts are electric, they don't let you even touch each other's bumpers, and it's mad expensive.
If I ever get the money, I'm opening ThunderDome II...lol.
