aweet. i have a court date. think i stand a chance? (illinois)
got a citation for my maxxfab see exhaust and no front plate. i have the bracket and plate i can put on no biggie but the illinois law for exhaust is
According to section 5/12.602 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, every operating vehicle should be equipped with an adequate muffler or exhaust system, which should be properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise. It is illegal to modify the exhaust system of a vehicle in a way that will amplify or increase a vehicle’s noise above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle.
think i can argue that because the srt has a mufferless exhaust and since they prolly wont have a db tester that the exhaust doesnt amplify the noise. it just reroutes the exit? or am i just getting in over my hear? i dont have cat and the fine for that is like up to $2500 or $25k.
If yes, pay your tickets and shut your gob before you get in real trouble (perjury).
If no, you still don't have a cat (which is a federal emissions regulation) in which case you're probably better off paying you tickets before they really ding you.
i'm also running the maxxfab SEE with resinator and out of state plates. i'm not too sure of the laws in IL but, when i was living in virginia, i got pulled over for the same reason. the lawyer i consulted asked if the exhaust i have is stock and if not, there's no reason to fight and to just pay the fines. g/l and don't drop the soap is all i can say
^^^ I'm with this guy. Why run the risk of them finding out you have no cat? Sounds like that could be costly. If you plan on fighting it they may want to actually test the Db level, and they'll probably want to look over the car when doing so. Sucks, but that's one of the downsides of modifying your car
