Default Alarm installs NE ohio

hey i've done a few compustars for myself after being VERY disappointed with some local shops. So i've decided i might offer my services. If people out there are looking to have an alarm on their SRT but don't trust any local shops drop me a PM. Most shops charge 200$ to install a nice COMPUSTAR with remote start, two-way paging, keyless entry, turbo timer, and all the other features that compustars have (www.compustar.org). I think i'll do 'em for $150 and you'll most likely not find any wires from it after i'm done, try getting that at a local shop!
when i left the shop after mine was first installed i had wires hanging down in front of my clutch pedal!

so if you're looking for a QUALITY install for less than your local shop hit me up on PM.

couple questions for you....

1. how does the remote start work with a manual, do u need a plastic key or something??

2. since you're familiar with the kits they offer, what are approximate prices

3. any recommendations?? Best? Worst?

4. where exactly in NE Ohio are you?

Thanks, PJ

1 (this is slightly long winded)

the remote start sequence is rather simple and for Compustar. It is by far the most intuitive (of any other manual xmission remote start).

once you arrive you set your parking brake and put the car in neutral. Then remove your foot from the foot brake. Once you've done that the alarm will take over ignition. Remove your key and exit the vehicle (and anyone else in the car). Once everyone is out and all the doors are closed (and the car is still running) the alarm will shut the car off, lock the doors, and arm the alarm. If you need further clarification please let me know. The idea behind this is that you are out of the car with it running meaning it KNOWS the car is in neutral, after all how else would it continue to run without you in it with your foot on the clutch?

AT ANY TIME if you pop the trunk or otherwise open the doors the remote start is CANCELLED until you reset it, compustar calls it reservation mode. If you open the door reservation mode is cancelled until you restart the car, set the brake (if it isnt already) and have your foot off of the parking brake.

It may sound confusing cause i'm not good at explaining it but the process is really brainless. I can show you how it works of course, so that you understand what the process is.

The only other thing you need is a bypass for the special key. It is activated only with the remote start meaning someone cant get in your car and then drive it without the key cause the bypass is only active during remote start. The bypass module costs an additional 20-40$ from ebay or local shops around here.

**EDIT**
for locking/unlocking you also need a double relay box, about $10. I don't use the 249 ohm and 1k ohm resistor trick because it only works about 50% of the time (personal experience).

You can pick up Compustar alarms on EBAY in the 200 dollar range. About 200$ for the 900mhz version (3000 foot range) or 260ish for the spread spectrum model (1.25 MILE range, yes it does work that far (unobstructed of course)).

I really like compustars, i could probably (99% sure) install just about any other alarm but really the compustars are the most intuitive to use.
For instance another manual transmission remote start/alarm/keyless alarm requires you to set the brake, put in neutral, foot off brake, flip a switch twice, hit a button on the remote, exit the vehicle, and then hit a button on the remote again. Why all those extra steps?
There are two main models in the current compustar line, the 2WSS-AS (digital spread spectrum 1.25 mile range) and the 2W900FM-AS (3000 foot range).
Both use the same brain so installation is the same.
