whats up my fella srt-4 drivers.. i recently bought me a red 03' srt4 in october..didnt start driving it till november, i had to sell my jetta first, so i sold that and moved on to the srt.. 1st time driving stick, i finally got the hang of it..and by tomorrow ill be a pro LOL jk..heres what i noticed.. the tires spin sooo much.. i have the michelin pilot sports.. PSI is set high i know that for a fact, im not sure thats the problem.. heres a quick story to my problem.. i engaged the clutch slowly, so at about 20mph, i just punched it, started spinning, put it 2nd gear softly, no rough or fast shifing, floored it again in 2nd, started peeling out again for over a sec, i shut if off..(im positive 2nd gear was engaged correctly, i made sure i was in gear before flooring it cuz im still a rookie)..now i live in chicago, and it was VERY cold that night, like 20 degrees..u think thats my problem, ?? cold pavement and no traction? or what should i set my tires at, how many PSI.. thanks a lot, and i love the forums..
your problem is in fact cold pavement, and cold tires. Your traction loss is very high with these factors. Gonna have to wait until summer to feel the burn!

thanks for the quick response pitch black.. i was kinda worried there to why i cant put power to the ground..i thought to myself im losing speed..hehe thanks a lot though, i guess ill wait till summer.. i like ur car, sometimes i wonder to myself if i should of bought black.. thanks again
pitch black, LOL, u should of seen last night man.. it fell a lot of snow here, i was scared to do more than 10mph.. 1st gear with lil gas tapped down, kept spinning the tires, i couldnt grip for anything in the world..those tires suck so bad for the winter.. at least i went through the 1st snow..so i think i know how it acts now..hopefully..
if you live up north and have a 2003 SRT...i highly/STRONGLY suggest you save $2000 and have an Mopar/Quaiffe LSD installed...nuff said
I dont mean to say it will solve your traction or lack thereof but the 04 owners will tell you how valueable the unit is. Chances are your car is running really good due to weather...one suggestion aside from LSD...is get motor mounts! (www.neonparts.net)

[b]i know but the facts speak for themselves....should have waited for the 04
ahhh i really couldnt wait anymore, cuz i got the 03' very cheap..got it at invoice price.. my cousin of mine does a lot of work with different dealers with financing, and i got it cheap like that..my cousin doesnt have that job anymore, so i couldnt wait for the 04, i would of paid more..plus i found out later that the 04 had the LSD and bigger injecs..

1st thing is buy snowtires...makes a world of differance
2nd. use second gear a low speeds in snow. You will have a less chance of losing traction and control if you gas it a little too much. Low engine rpms is the key to this.
