it does it automatically, so you must still be @ 30.

u accumalating these points disconnected from Xbox Live, sometimes it will not count them when ur not connected to Live, or so i heard

g stands for gamerscore. Accomplishing different things in games gets you certain points. There is a menu somewhere on your xbox that shows you how you got the ones you have, and what you have to do to get more.
