Almost everyone i know with a palli hates it.All i know is they can be a real pain to kill though.
I dont really hate my pally. Just lost my current interest in it. If I feel like healing or topping the AV/AB kill charts with consecration spam, I'll play him for kicks. hehe

you should give it a try. there is so much more content and gear selections. if you like end game content such as 10, and 25 man raids, you'll be hooked once again. plus the new arena gear and badge gear is insane!
