WiiBrew

I'm thinking of installing this on my Wii

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Main_Page

i like to mod things, i used to have a software mod on one original Xbox and a mod-chip on another one.

Has anyone tried it before?

my wii hasn't been powered on for weeks.

i just read that the system update blocks new installs, so if you've already done the hack you are okay

that's correct.

if you have any questions about this, let me know.. i follow it all pretty closely and there's some cool stuff available.. im really hoping that they find a way to beat nintendo's latest patch so they can keep updating things.

Hmm... my Wii was blinking... oh shit. I just remembered, I thought I didn't update it, but I did before I went to bed because it was taking a long ass time... haven't checked if it actually worked or not.

So I guess this is out of the question for me now... but what all do you get with the Homebrew? Games? Anything else?

the ones i've personally used work fine.

you get games for them like you get games for any emulator..

they've come a long way.. when i first started using this a couple months ago, you could only use the gamecube controller for everything... now these guys have wiimote/nunchuck/classic controller support, auto save systems, all kinds of great stuff

Sounds like a pretty good deal... but damn its getting a pain to mod everything, lol... only my PSP is molested... I've got enough games between everything that I don't usually get bored enough to want to mod stuff. Its almost a bad thing... so much to choose from and no idea where to start.

But anyhow... I can't do this now for a while anyway, at least until they figure out this patch.

No shit... I always find it ironic... hackers can always find a loop-hole faster than the people actually getting paid can fix it.

Just saying... take EQ for example... I have a friend who used Ghost Kill, if you're not familiar with it... it basically made it so your weapon had 0 delay. There were other versions that used all of the monk skills and so on.... and they added stuff so that it could be detected right after the fact and a fuck ton of people got banned.

This went on for a while... and then Sony did something with the packets and it caused HUGE lag problems on the servers and had to take it out... then they did a new update and thought it was going to be solved for good... GK Hacker came back again and One-Upped them... and now I think people can only be caught if they are reported or actually seen... he beat Sony's auto detection.

Then again... this guy sure as hell didn't work for free, rightfully so fucking with a company like Sony. I think my friend had to pay between $75-$150 PER update.

just an update,.. the Homebrew Channel is now fixed to work with the latest update.

AND they now support SDHC in it... noone even thought that the Wii's sd slot could *physically* do that!
