Clearly I'm not going to convince any of you that graphics aren't everything(yes, they matter to some degree, with certain games). And noone has bothered to ask me which games are good. If anyone is truly interested I will give you a short list of Nintendo AND third party titles that are very good games. There's something on there for everyone.. just need to know where to look.
Also, for those of you still claiming that the Wii software is on a lower level than that of the PS3 and Xbox360... here's some interesting statistics from metacritic...
# of games scored 90 or higher.
Xbox360: 12 (~6 per year, 2/12 exclusives)
Wii: 5 (~5 per year, 4/5 exclusives)
PS3: 4 (~4 per year, 0/4 exclusives)
So based on the general concensus of the gaming media.. the Wii is right on target with the # of A+ titles, and would be THE system to get for quality exclusives.
But hey... I guess calling me a fanboy and that I'm making up bs is a good argument too. Whatever floats your boat, guys!
And to be perfectly clear... I'd never say get a Wii INSTEAD of something else. The gamer who wants just a Wii is of a very niche group. It's certainly not me, and I know it isn't any of you. Just looking to clear these "wii sucks" myths. Different? yes(so is the DS, which also took 2 years to skyrocket in terms of software). Sucks? not by any stretch of the imagination.

why would you take away the remote? what are you even planning to do with a console lacking a controller?
Well obviously you would have a controller in that situation, it was an example of getting rid of what makes the Wii "special". Its niche is the Wiimote and its not being utilized currently in many games as well as it could be.
My argument for the Wii isnt sales cause lets be honest, crappy games could sell well with a good enough market'ing team (halo3what). Also the fact that taste in games is differant for everyone.
I give credit to the Wii only because nintendo did not "sell-out" to make sales, they stuck to their orignal plans to make something differant and thats what they did.
My biggest beef is that Nintendo is the godfather when it comes to gaming consoles & I just think they are resting on that status instead of trying to offer something truely amazing.
They have fun titles for those people that still enjoy those type of games, but there last 2 consoles have failed to deliver a must have in the gaming
community, a "killer app" if you will. Every console should have that game that defines it, that makes even the most die hard want to play it.

For me, the reason I played PC more then consoles was because of multiplayer. PS2 was good and fun...until I got tired of playing by myself. Xbox changed all that, altho I didnt own one it changed how people thought about playing on consoles. 360 and PS3(altho slowly on the latter) are taking the right steps to bring gamers together and extend game playability.
When I read about the Wii's "connectivity" and the fact that it was NEVER changed...it was just like a slap in the face, its differant to say your releasing software that is single player only its another to release hardware thats invite your friends only.

ok, gotcha. i see what you mean,.. but yeah.. it's a software thing. some games dont need it at all, and people get mad when they make up reasons to use it like the did in a lot of first year games. nowadays the games are getting a lot better in knowing when to use and when not to use it.you could argue that getting rid of whatever it is that makes any console special would ruin it, right? get rid of hd graphics or Live and a lot of people are going to be turned off to the 360. get rid of BluRay movie support and a lot of people are going to be turned off to the PS3.

see thats the thing.. it's a risk/reward kind of proposal. nintendo is always doing things different, and it's given us portable video games, analog control, force feedback controllers, microphones, touchscreens, and now motion controls.
now interestingly enough,.. the gamecube was their most traditional game system. aside from using mini dvd's.. it didn't really do anything new.. and it was one of nintendo's biggest failures. it seems they've done pretty well walking down the unbeaten path. i have no doubt that in a year from now developers are going to be doing stuff with the wii that's just out of sight. i saw the same thing with the DS - i bought it when mario kart came out,.. and didnt know wtf else i was gonna play on it. about 4-6 months later it was like a wave of AAA titles coming out and i was buried. i see that already with the wii, but i do realize that not everyone likes whats out there now(though i'd bet a lot of people claim they dont like games like mario kart without actually playing them)

i think they've done pretty well. up until april the highest collectively rated game of all time was on the Wii(published by Nintendo). they're taking games in new directions.. making them more mainstream, more "accepted".(this is huge for the industry as a whole). the balance board could open a lot of interesting possibilities too, but that remains to be seen.

for a lot of people that was smash brothers on gamecube(not my cup of tea... but a shit ton of people bought it and played it for years)
and i guess the other console you're talking about is the n64? i'd say goldeneye/perfect dark/mario kart 64 were pretty significant.

hey im in the same boat with being annoyed by those people. smash bros. did some stuff nice, and it was an enjoyable game. i'd rank it in the low 80's if i had to tack a score on it. ..nothing to start a religion over. and wii fit... im getting it because im a bit of a fitness nut right now, but i dont expect it to really help me lose anything.. i run for that. but it does appear to have some fun games included and i like the progress tracking features of it.

im not sure what you mean about wii's connectivity.. can you phrase that a little better? i want to respond but i want to make sure i get what you're saying first.
neither am i. but like i said, i use the wii fit mostly for the yoga. the strength training and aerobic exercises are a joke for people who work out on a consistent basis (like me). but i'll pay 60 bucks for the wii fit over a monthly membership to some yoga spot where i can't enjoy the view of women because i'd have to bring my girlfriend there.
