Either way i'm not a fan of streaming media. There's always going to be a time when you're away from your console and I like having a library to go back to. (Sorta, that $$$ adds up)

LMFAO dude!! u have no idea... invited a girl over one night and i was like.... lets watch a movie. We're scrolling through all the good movies BLA has to offer and we are like... Hey lets watch Pulse!! So i start download... 1%, .........................then 2%, im like.... ya lets fix something to eat while we wait... it will be finished in like 1 hour.. Majority of HDTVs out there CAN NOT do 1080P. Strike 1.

Will it have DTS-HD or Dolby Digital True HD uncompressed sound?

There are far fewer people with a reciever capable than people with a 1080p tv. Strike 2

How much longer will that take to download.

I've downloaded HD rips online and it didn't take that long. I connect from my PC at work to my home PC and by the time I get home, an HD movie is waiting for me. Strike 3

Downloading movies with minimal audio/visual specs are ok for some, but then what would the point of having an HDTV and 7.1 receiver?

Wow, less that 1% of the population. I can just see the entire industry tripping over themselves catering to them.

You're out!

Not really, Microsoft put all the eggs into one basket with the HD. They owned themselfs before the ball even started rolling. Try to find an HD player in a laptop latley.... not going to happen they are all blue ray players. If the lap top industry goes blue ray HD will never have a chance in hell.

You're out!

Who else would they be catering to? Certainly not someone like you who wouldn't care if the sound was coming from a 10-watt TV speaker or a 24-watt 2.1 Logitech system.

Also, it's amazing how you come up with these figures and percentages.

Sure, because everyone has a schedule or job like you where they're allowed to do that. When I get back from driving on the road, I can just as easily stop by a Best Buy and pick up a Blu Ray with full A/V specs and features.

It's no use man, he thinks Hard Copy media for HDTVs will be replaced by streaming content.

Unless we start living to be 500 years old again...

How did Microsoft own themselves? They didnt build a HD-DVD into their 360, it was an external movie player. The Xbox 360 just comes with a basic DVD player.... what are you talking about kid? Once again, its a gaming console. As I said, you're brainwashed.

Xbox = for online gaming
Wii = Gaming with friends
PS3 = Watching movies

thx.

Xbox, agreed
Wii, agreed
PS3, agreed

Microsoft pushed the HD format and don't tell that they didn't... 90% of my neighbors work there and supported that format till recently.

Brainwashed or not the PS3 works great for movies and game play. The 360 is great for online gaming and sucks for moving playing and resoultion for game play. Blue Ray for the game play simply rocks!

Well, Im not reading yet ANOTHER one of these threads. All Im going to say is my PS3 has gotten maybe 20mins total of use from me (and that wasnt to play anything) and my 360 gets played at least once a week. It'll probably stay that way until GT5 or GOW3 comes out.

As for HD movies, Ive seen a good amount. Didnt buy one Bluray disc. Last night, my 4.4gb 720p movie took 45mins to download. FiOS baby, w00t!

Ummmm... no.

Seriously, does anyone really know what Bluray really is? Its a new (or newer) technology for more storage space. More space doesnt mean a better game. Thats up to the developers. (It doesnt help when your system is a pain in the ass to program for.) It especially doesnt help when your loads would be so long without installing the game beforehand AND using redundant data to keep load times down. So the space you wouldve had for new data is being used for repetition so you dont have 30min load times. Maybe when a x6 or more player is installed in a system, it'll really be worth it...

My sound system has enough power to rattle the paint off of your finger nails.

It isn't a big deal really. It takes me no longer than 5 minutes to cue up a download in the morning. Surely you are aware that many people work infront of a computer and can just as easily log into Netflix and arrange their cue. Nobody knows how the program will run yet. But it can be as easy as leaving the XBox on all day, log into my Live account, cue up the movie and is waiting for me when I get home.

Many people are having a hard enough time already paying $20 for a DVD movie, let alone a $35 bluray.

I'm currently paying $16/mo for my Netflix with 3 DVDs. If I rip them quick enough, I can get 6 a week. 24 movies for $16... quite a bargain. It maybe 480p but atleast I'm not paying $35 for one lousy movie.

Even if the Netflix XBox service is $40 it's still a hell of a lot cheaper to get all the movies you can download and watch compared to one fucking bluray.
