The new format of high def movies will be Blu Ray.
No jackass, it'll be content downloads.

Not every dumb asshole wants to stream a movie, some do own, and there is a lot of money in those that buy them.
You can buy one blowray disc for $35 while I'll put that $35 to Netflix and my broadband service for the month. Oh did I mention I can watch as much as I want? I don't want to watch Spiderman 3 on a daily basis.

Yes, prices are high but so were DVD's and VHS back in the day.
You didn't have streaming media back then. Your brain isn't even half the size of mine junior.

Either way you're a fool if you think that "streaming media" is going to destroy Blu Ray.
Really? Then if it's all about blowray, why is Sony investing money on streaming media... for the PS3. You're contradicting yourself.

By your stupid ass logic...Pay-Per-View would have destroyed Blockbuster.
Blockbuster already has one foot in the grave.

Now do you see how stupid your shit sounds? You must have a really small TV because like i've said before...watching DVD's on a 42" or bigger is shit
Don't fuck with the big boys son, go back to your crib and come out when your dick is longer than your pinky.
just so everyone knows, i checked out the new movie features on PSN late last night when it was released and it seemed that every movie you can purchase will only show it in 480 SD so that means that it will not end the blu-ray disc movies sold in stores....but you can rent the movie in HD
When I worked at BB I would see 20-30 HDTV's sold a day. The average person is not going to sit and wait for the movie to download. My friend rented a movie from the 360 dashboard and waiting for it to download was fucking LAME.
Yo ToyoMopa, you might wanna read up on how HD content is streamed......it in no way can compare to having it on a disc.: Plus, I doubt the movies will be in 1080 format, just probably 480 @ max due to broadband speeds. Sony is just offering it for competition.

Wow, $35, use the worst case scenario much? Most all are $30, many more are cheaper than that, and quite often you can get One full price, second half off, or buy two, get one free.
Or, like me, you can just spend about 20 a month for Blockbusters deal, and watch maybe 3-4 Blu-Rays a month, and other SD media.
Downloads coming, true, but for now, and for a few years, at least, hard medias still going to rule.

ya it does suck. I did 2 movies that way, the idea, quality, and sound is amazing. But i have to download the movie 1 day in advance
It'll be a while before Toyota-Mopar's dream comes to fruition with downloads being the standard. Will downloadable movies be in 1080p? Will it have DTS-HD or Dolby Digital True HD uncompressed sound? How much longer will that take to download.
Downloading movies with minimal audio/visual specs are ok for some, but then what would the point of having an HDTV and 7.1 receiver?

Yeah it seemed like a good idea until we had to start DLing it. Everyone was just kind of staring at each other expecting the movie to start.
Either way i'm not a fan of streaming media. There's always going to be a time when you're away from your console and I like having a library to go back to. (Sorta, that $$$ adds up)
