If your gonna bring up game cost , then why don't you just mention that any PC game can be pirated for free.......that would do more for your argument then $10.00 per game.
Well if consoles MUST be played on 26"+ HDTV then you must use them too for your PCs in the comparision. Which would even out the cost. Why use a 20" PC monitor when you could go smaller and it would be cheaper too, right.
The point is you dont have to spend $800 for an HDTV of similar size for this comparo.

Who says I have to buy another computer? I built my Budget PC in 2003 and have upgraded ram and Vid card in 2006. It doesn't need to be included in the console pricing because it was built in 03....three years before I got the 360.

..and mmo's on consoles cost extra too, so they'd cancel each other out.

nope, because a majority of people actually DO play computer games on 18-22" monitors... very very few people play consoles on something that small

What you just said is that you paid lets say $700 for a "workable" PC, $400 for an XBox 360, $1200 if not more on a decent HDTV and countless more on games for said console.
I see this argument alot, and I wonder why is it all PC people don't watch TV? Most people I know with a $1200 HDTV for there console, would probably still have a $1200 dollar TV with out a console.
As for the updates never causing problems on a pc, I call BS. Where I work the software updates I get typically cause as many problems as they fix. We used to stay two updates behind, just to be sure nothing major will go wrong. Nothing like getting a email a month after an update saying your system can't transfer loads properly and you have to do it by hand. And anything done in the last month is wrong.
