your forming an opinion fella. regardless of how easy it is to put a PC together (and it is easy) not everyone wants to play PC games. there are console exclusives out there you know. also, you can't really use the argument that "well you have to buy a HDTV" because most people have a TV already that they use for things other than gaming, so it's not a purchase exclusive to gaming.
you sound like the 360 fanboys trying to justify your CHOICE to others and make them feel stupid for not going the same route you did. bottom line is, people buy what they want, why do you care about it anyway?
orlando to dothan... thats a pretty bad downgrade. Last upgrade i heard you guys had there was having the toilets moved inside of the house.
Yea well you got me there. The problem is they don't just a nuclear power plant to residents in central FL, but they trust it to people in lower AL. Hmmph, go figure.
Im sorry, no. There is no "several years" in PC gaming. PCs are almost obsolete after 6 months, let alone years. Say you buy a "top of the line" video card. You'll be lucky to play at medium settings in a years time. Hell, you'll be lucky if they dont create the next, better video card connection (agp to pci-e anyone?). Sorry, but at the very least, you'll be updating your videocard every year.

..and in a years time, "medium" is the same as todays "high"
most games on high look worse than crysis on low.
the words low, medium, and high are NOT indicators of a pc that can or cannot play games.
How many goddamn times do I have to repeat myself.
If you want HD graphics inline with any modern computer+monitor, you're looking at spending $1000+ on a decent HDTV. So let's say you're now up to $1300 base price for an Xbox360 and a TV with no games or anything else.
Now lets not forget that roughly 80-85% of households in America have a computer of some sort; after all, they love to argue on car forums about stuff they don't research. The cheapest PC I could find that comes with a display is a $379 Walmart special of some random brand. So you have to add THAT to the price too or else you won't be able to post uninformed opinions on car forums, bringing yourself to a grand total of $1679.
Now I just went to iBUYPOWER: Custom Build Gaming Computers Desktop PCs, Notebooks and built a FULL rig with an AMD Athlon X2 5000+, Geforce 9600GT, 2GB RAM, Windows Vista AND a 20.1" widescreen monitor for the price of $818. Now you could bump that up by $125 and move up to a Geforce 9800GTX which will run anything for the next 2 years guaranteed. Oh it also comes with 3 free games btw.
And both of those spec PC's will run both Crysis and BioShock.
So its a tad under $950 for a fully fledged PC capable of any modern gaming for the next 2 years with 3 free games...or an Xbox360 with no games, an HDTV and a cheap laptop for just a tad over $1650. What a bargain console gamers!
Your built computer = $618-$743
Xbox 360 = $350
Your 20" LCD costs $200 (no brand name?)
20" HDTV at Circuit City $330 (LG) or at Best Buy $249.99 (Dynex?)
Your total = $818-$943
Console Total = $600-$680
are you still going.........?
I dont think anyone will argue the PC has WAY more capability when it come to graphics and having the newest technology, BUT that capability come with a price which is higher than the cost of a console.

Consoles just have more games I want to play than PC does. That why I usually stick to consoles. I'm not a graphics whore so the difference between MGS4 and Crysis isn't that big of a deal to me. PC's still have cool games as well but if I have the choice I will choose to get the game on console over PC.

forgot to add the $200 for 4 years of Live
and an extra $10 minimum for every game... lets say 6 games a year.. thats +$240
true cost: $800 - $880 (and i'm sure tons of people are playing xbox 360 on a 20" tv)
Oh and for the $600 of that 23" monitor you bought, you could have gotten a Dell 24" for $450 like the one I'm using right now. It sounds like you are the one who doesn't research.
So ultimately you paid way more for an Xbox, a computer and a monitor when you could have just gotten a top of the line computer and not had to worry about upgrading for several years. You just proved my point.
I use my Monitor for a t.v. and a PC monitor. So the Dell 24" is $450 plus the $850 to spent to build a PC? Thats $1300 vs the $800 i spent for my xbox360. What point did i just prove? Are you even listening to yourself?>
