Not to mention you can actually get 4GB of good namebrand RAM for about $80 and a 512MB 8800GT for about $150, and that should keep your "aging" system up to date enough for a few years. Atleast past the PS4 and XBOX720 or whatever the hell.
I think you PC guys are missing the point that for a lot of people the console is just easier and more user friendly to most people.
It's like trying to get non-car people to think modding a car or working on one is easy.
I knew nothing, and I mean NOTHING about cars when I bought my SRT. I had never even changed my oil.
Now I have a 400HP 50 trim with full boltons and I installed everything myself. That's within a year of owning the car.
What you're saying is console gamers are typically too lazy to learn anything new and would rather spend the extra money for someone else to do the work for them.
I'll tell you right now, building a computer is 500,000x easier than building up a car. It takes me all of maybe 4 hours to build a PC from the ground up with everything installed and ready for use.
I had to upgrade my ram and video to get Oblivion to look as good on my pc as my 360. so that should give some of you an idea how out of date some of ours Pc's are out here LOL

no kidding, they even have it nowadays where you can't hook something up wrong.

and you also have seen on here how many people have had there cars for years and still can not work on them very well. some people just learn better and easier then others.
and yes console gamers are lazy and just want it done for them :-)
well if yall know someone with one of these $500 pc's that kicks all this ass and is comfy and easy to play and plays it via there tv off of there sofa then yeah let me know. I travle aorund MD and DE and will be up near smoger near end of this month I would definatly love to see one of these set ups
ummm so buy top of the line maybe 2grand pc to play for a good 2 years or so
or buy a 400$ console every 2 years, some how the console seems cheaper LOL
once again you give the xbox an unfair advantage because it's top setting is the pc's low setting. you dont have to rush out for a new pc the moment you find out that you have to turn trilinear filtering off or bump it down to "only" 8x AA
this pc i just mentioned that i built for 1200 including monitor will be my pc for at least 4 years, without question. the previous one that i had for 5 years cost me 800 total.
plus you're ignoring...
$50/year for online. so +$100 for the xbox, and +$10/game(bare minimum).. lets lowball it and say you buy 6 games a year...
the cost for that xbox for 2 years just jumped to $790
Well someday we'll get to the point where the PC has replaced everything we do manually now, including writing. Having worked in IT for 6 years, I can tell you that people are NOT keeping up with technology, and I'm the one who has to deal with the idiots who would rather remain ignorant than learn a thing or two.
Actually Wii's can still brick. If you put in a game that has the different region coding with a firmware update and your Wii isn't updated to the lastest firmware you can get bricked. Beyond that yeah just at launch updating your Wii you could get bricked. So yeah all next gen consoles have had this problem.
no no no no... that's only on a modchipped wii. a factory wii spits out the disc and says it doesnt belong.

and be thankfull for them if it were not for idiots you would be out of a job!
the less people know about things the more jobs for specialits there are

this stuff isnt hard when you apply simple math.
yes 790$ for me to sit on my sofa and relax with friends and not update anything or download patches I am fine with that.
