Considering what I deal with on a daily basis, what you said sounded pretty plausible.
Someone piss in your server this morning?
Malware and viruses are still VERY prominent in the home PC industry.. Think about all the people out there that get the popup saying their computer is infected and then they click on the "software fix" to clean it.. Put it this way, if adware and viruses didn't work, people wouldn't continue to create them.

We already went over this. Malware and viruses are symptoms of stupid users.
wow someones up tight geeez
for all the times that people go over this debate most seem to forget that there are a lot of people that only have friends that own consoles, I really do not know anyone that games on a pc outside of RPG's.
and despite what some have said on here to get my system and many of my friends pc's to run any newer game that we play on the console on our pc's would cost a good bit of upgrade now maybe when the new line of game consoles come out I will check and see how much it would cost to upgrade my pc and run it on my TV as well as see how many of the games let me use a controller instead of keyboard to play. I dont even play rpg that much on my pc anymore cuase it hurts my dang wrist to much and well it just not as fun playing in front of a monitor that I have now then it is on my sofa in front of the tv.
And I have tried playing games on the PC before with lower settings and yes while it looked about as good or a little better then my console to really get the full extra cool impact of the pc version I would have had to upgrade my pc. Hell to play COH I had to upgrade my video card and ram or I was stuck with having most of the effects turned off or down and blah frame rates.
Yeah there are a lot of us who use the PC for email, porn, and a few websites and nothing much else so we do not have very good PC's overall, hell I know people that still buy e-machines

What you just said is that you paid lets say $700 for a "workable" PC, $400 for an XBox 360, $1200 if not more on a decent HDTV and countless more on games for said console. Do you realize you just spent at minimum $2300 on all that junk without any games when you could have bought a near top of the line PC for ~$1700-1800 with money left over? And it will run any game out right now.
Put that extra $600 into a Aeron chair and a tuner so you can watch and record all your TV, shit.
Not to mention PC games are cheaper than console games. Or if you're a badass like me, you just download all the games that the developers obviously didn't care enough about to QA test them, and only buy quality games.

No offense but doesn't anyone think this through?
Yea This has been discussed. I do both PC gaming and Console. PC gaming is alot more expensive... have you thought this through?
In 2004 I bought a Dell XPS($1200) top of the line and a Xbox 360($450). Now in 2008 I can play any game that comes out on xbox.. i just buy the game,.... With the PC, i need new graphics cards and all types of upgrades. The shit was outdated within 2 years i got it and I cant even play crysis.
4 years ago 1GIg of ram was the minimum requirement for PC games. Now its 2, and soon it will be 3... then for. My Geforce7300 was the shit back then... but now i have to spend MORE MONEY just to get the 8300... then one year later then a 9000 then 10000 then 2000000. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I havnt had to spend money on my console to play CURRENT games.

I don't know where you get your facts, maybe the back of a cereal box, but a GeForce 7300 was never "top of the line", nor was it "middle of the line".
Also your argument about prices is rediculous, a new video card 1-2 steps below top of the line you can find between $200-300, while 4GB is nothing more than $100 on NewEgg (YES 4GB!!!!!! YOU READ IT RIGHT, AMAZING I KNOW!!!!)
You're never going to find a good up to date PC for less than about $1800 so your $1200 XPS was definitely NOWHERE near high spec.
Like I said in my previous post, by a NEAR TOP OF THE LINE PC now and you won't have to worry about upgrading for 2 or more years, guaranteed, and you'll still be able to play the games then. I've been building my own systems for the past 8 years this way and this philosophy hasn't failed me yet.
*EDIT* Oh and btw if you're going to complain "no references blah blah", the Geforce 7950GX2 was available in June of 2006, a card that I owned, and just before I upgraded to my 8800GTX I was playing Crysis on my 7950GX2, here in 2008.
Ummm I bought the TV to watch movies and tv on not for gamming LOL
what I am saying is that many people just use there pc for basic stuff do not know much about them and so it is easier to get a console and play with friends that all have consoles.
I would have to talk a lot of people into getting new pcs just to play with my regular friends.
I deifnatly would like to try pc gamming but the cost to upgrade the pc at this point and also not really sure about how well it works with controllers makes me worry maybe if I knew someone that was near me that did pc gamming and I could try it it might be differnt

You can plug your Xbox 360 controller right into your PC and it will work flawless.
And I can understand the friend thing, but it doesn't change the fact that PC gaming is cheaper than console gaming ultimately.
why would you say you can't *even* play crysis? crysis is the one exception to the rule. the ONE game thats on another plateau.
and i know SRTie4k is pricing for absolute top of the line, but I wanna throw in that my middle of the road $1200 pc will still play anything(including crysis), and when the physx layer is added to nvidia cards soon, the pc will once again be leaps and bounds beyond the consoles.. as opposed to just leaps.
and yeah,.. every single game is 10 cheaper MINIMUM, usually 20 cheaper. that adds up a lot. i paid $37 for Bio Shock and COD4 both on the days they came out.. and PC COD4 has theoretically no limit on how many players can join a multiplayer game(most current servers support 32).. what is it? 8 on xbox? maybe 16... lol

ummm so buy top of the line maybe 2grand pc to play for a good 2 years or so
or buy a 400$ console every 2 years, some how the console seems cheaper LOL

1 pc made within the past 2-3 years
+ $250 GeForce8800GT ($100 cheaper than an xbox)
+Xbox 360 controller
= no more excuses.
(and honestly, you'll get tore up if you use the gamepad anyway... mouse + keyboard or nothing)
not the wii. there were a handful of "semi bricked" Wii's near launch, but nothing widespread. the next closest thing was the "dirty disc drive" issue that popped up when brawl came out,.. again it was short lived and not very common.
Actually Wii's can still brick. If you put in a game that has the different region coding with a firmware update and your Wii isn't updated to the lastest firmware you can get bricked. Beyond that yeah just at launch updating your Wii you could get bricked. So yeah all next gen consoles have had this problem.
(and honestly, you'll get tore up if you use the gamepad anyway... mouse + keyboard or nothing)
well that right there is a reasons then why I myself and many others will never go over to a PC becuase using the keyboard and mouse is not something that is an option. honestly I do dig PC's and like I said I would like to find someone near me that has a good set up that you guys say cost next to nothing and try it out and see how it goes. I just know that typing and even when I played somethign simple like coh it did not take long till I was hurting
