I just built a new machine. What game should I put through it first? I already have/played/love/beat Half Life2 but it's up on the list anyway.

Portal is extremely fun, but very short (short as in you can beat it in a few hours). There are a lot of custom maps you can download after and try to solve, some of which that are pretty original and challenging. Call of Duty 4 is a great game.

CoD4 rocked the cock. i tried the new rainbow6:vegas2 recently and wasn't a fan, tho. graphics were good, gameplay was not. same with a demo of new need for speed game. probably onto bioshock or crysis next.
Instead of relying solely on graphics to fulfill your gaming needs, realize that there are several older games out there that are still decent in the graphics department, yet simply indescribable as far as story/gameplay.
COD for a decent single player and awesome Multiplayer.(like CS.S mixed with BF2)
