really was it on an HDTV with HDMI there is a noticble differnce when hooked up that way. I know that there were some games that went from looking like PS2 games to what you would expect. Then again compared to PC games and a good system I guess most things would look bad. But that doesnt stop pretty much everyone on here from owning a few consoles as well as PC's
yes it was.
side note: a friend of mine came over with his new laptop last night(xps but i dont know what specific model).. it was only $1100 .. less than the cheapest macbook you can buy.
he was running crysis smoothly on medium @ 1080p(which is amazing to see on only a 17" screen btw,..talk about pixel density)
we were comparing some games and that laptop kept up frame for frame with my desktop. i was seriously impressed, except that it was HUGE(which is what some people want.. just not me)
i was just amazed that you can get a very competent laptop for gaming for only 1100 nowadays.
I don't know much about this graphic's shit, as long as it looks good and the game play is fun I'll be happy.
That said, I would assume in this situation wouldn't the limiting factor be his 65" TV. I understand it, that pc's are capable of much hire resolutions. But, wouldn't the TV be the limiting factor.
I would assume to really see the difference you would be better off on a xx" monitor.
Higher resolution and higher settings = more gpu/memory power and bandwidth needed.
You can probably play in 640x480 with everything turned down and it'll run smoothly. It would look like you're playing a PS2 game.
well I figure only one way to find out. once my hard drive back up and going will give it a shot. with all the talk about how easy and user friendly PC's can be if I can enjoy it on my tv in the living room and it look just as good actually better then my 360 I will start picking up some games here and there for the PC other wise I will stay with the console since that what I have now and friends play on it as well. and heck it will be a while before a new Xbox comes out maybe when it does I will do a full switch over then, course I have to convince friends of that as well
so under $100 bucks and I can start enjoying PC gaming on the big screen this should be cool.
hummm but how do I set it up so that I can still use that pc in the computer room when someone wants to watch tv? As it is now when I use the PC I am in the PC room but if it's out in the living room how do I get the signal back into the PC room so I can.....
Hummm this sucks seems like you have to have 2 PC's if you want comfy console like gaming and still be able to use the PC as a PC.
Can anyone help me with a solution to this? I mean right now I have a gaming system in one room to play games on PC in another to use as a PC if I combine the two things into just the PC I am going to have to give up something it seems.

exactly.. it doesnt matter how big of a tv you have, it's only going up to 1920x1280(?) pixels.
the bigger the screen is, the worse the pixel density is.. which is why everything being equal.. a 22" monitor at 1080p will look leaps better than a 42"+ 1080p television

Let me give you another piece of advice...start using your brain.
ok so I run the cable from pc to my monitor, so I take it then I would need to also get a wireless keyboard and mouse and repeater so that the signal makes it to the living room right?
neat, of course that goes against the whole price thing that is supposed to make having a PC over console for less money argument out the window having to buy a whole new PC.

Use the same method you would use to play your console in another room.
I applaud your attempt to make a joke of the "PC is cheaper than console" argument, unfortunately you fail miserably. Keep trying, though, it's funny listening to you ask inane questions a 9 year old could answer!
