Damn... I hope that we can see it released here before Christmas. I'm sure it is unlikely... but my GF said she wants a DS so I might as well wait and get her this one instead of picking one up now.

I saw something about a new console coming out in 2011.. any word on that?

there's no chance for this to be released here this year, (but maybe a DS price drop?)

the 2011 console rumor is completely unfounded/unconfirmed, but being that the Wii came out in 2006, 2011 sounds about right
(my guess is that someone just assumed a 2011 date and conjured up some features we all expect it to have to make a "news" story out of it)

So... if we saw a price drop... I can't imagine it would be anything lower than $119... Probably $129. So long as the price drops the cost of a game that would work for me.

So when do you think we might see this New DS over here? February?

And certainly all the console system developers are thinking about whats next... I think it would be kind of early now to release any kind of real detail on it. However they aren't out of the woods with the current consoles... RRODs popping up everyday.

Is it better to make what we have now flawless or just not waste the effort on it and instead work on something better?

well the DS Lite is 129 right now.. you're right though.. there's no real price point they could drop to that would really make sense. 99 is too low, 115 is confusing. maybe $110 ? I think 119 is too low of a drop to even bother

and I would guess later in February or March for the US launch of the DSi

Well any price drop would be nice I guess. I was still thinking they were $150 but I guess that was before they went Lite.

I'm still up in the air as to get one soon... wait for Christmas to get it for her or just wait until the DSi comes out. I know I would use it and my GF would too... hmm.

Too many consoles! I want an Omni-Console that will play any game I have... I guess I could make a big emulator...

Haha... the double camera does seem a little excessive... all you really need now is a speaker and antenna and bam... gamer phone, haha. (not a bad idea...)

It could be a wifi phone. The DS already has wi-fi, mic, speakers/headphone plug.

Skype maybe?

it's definitely possible.. there's already a VoIP app for the current DS (homebrew)

what i would really like to see with this DS is some lifecasting abilities, sort of like qik.com

..in fact it would be great if qik would just port their application to the DS download store..

btw.. nintendo of america later in the day said we won't get this until "well" into 2009 because the Lite selling much better here than in Japan(as compared to PSP sales)

Caught the small review of this on G4 last night... it made me want to wait for one, but my GF said she didn't care about all those features and just wanted to have one now to play. Looks like I'll be getting a Lite sooner than later.

Anyone disappointed in the loss of the GBA slot? I know its kind of old... but I remember a few good games for the GBA.

i still have my GBASp and keeping my Lite even when I get this, so losing the slot doesn't bother me. at this point i only have 2 GBA games anyway

i dont think im ever getting rid of game hardware again.. i almost always regret it

oh, and dont worry about getting the Lite,.. once you guys are sharing it, i almost guarantee you're gonna be able to justify getting your own anyway, especially since most games are multiplayer through a single cartridge

Definitely a shame... But, Nintendo is definitely making a LOT more games, and a lot of them are more enjoyable for a wider audience than that of what the PSP is doing.

Still love the PSP and wish more people had them so I could actually get some Ad-Hoc games going... but I guess I'd have to look for highschool kids to play with, lol.
