Default Netflix Movie Streaming Coming to PlayStation 3

Quote:
PlayStation 3 owners will be able to stream movies and TV shows from Netflix on their gaming consoles starting next month.
Sony Corp. and Netflix Inc. were set to announce the deal Monday. The service will be available for free to PlayStation 3 owners who have a Netflix subscription that costs more than $9 a month.
For Netflix, the move means reaching new customers. About 9 million PlayStation 3 systems have been sold in U.S.
For Sony, which already sells movies and TV shows on the console, it means yet another feature to tout as it markets the PlayStation as a diverse entertainment device.
Netflix streaming is already available on Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360. This leaves Nintendo Co.'s Wii as the last holdout.

Netflix Movie Streaming Coming to PlayStation 3 - ABC News

Quote:
Initially, watching movies instantly streamed from Netflix via the PS3 system will be enabled by a free, instant streaming Blu-ray disc that is being made available to all Netflix members. The free instant streaming disc leverages Blu-ray's BD-Live(TM) technology to access the Internet and activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3 system, which must be online via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

the Wii absolutely has the ability and you can ALREADY watch Netflix on it if you use PlayOn(same with PS3). HD doesn't matter much because most of Netflix's content is not hd anyway(and even the content that is requires a very fast connection to stream consistently)

you misunderstood. the blu ray they're talking about is the netflix *program*. the videos will be the same ones you get on 360 or on your computer.

So will we get more movies now that Sony and Netflix aren't fighting anymore?

I'd still rather have hard copies of all my software and movies rather than streaming.

I already have netflix on my xbox. Just wondering because the movies Sony has rights in didn't allow them to stream on the xbox. You could rent them for home delivery, but couldn't stream them.
