If you can only clone, it sounds like you're trying to run both a monitor and the TV at the same time?

Go into your display properties to the Settings tab. You'll see two monitors on the little display. Click the TV (it will probably be your secondary) and check the resolution. It might be set too low. Also while you have the TV selected, the checkbox at the bottom that says "Extend my Windows desktop on to this monitor" is what makes your screen an extension of the primary, rather than a clone.

When I go to the settings tab there is no secondary display. I setup quite a few double and triple monitor displays at work using a shitty ATI PCI graphics card and it gave me no issues, why the hell am I having such a hard time with this more advanced card

Okay I got it to work after restarting but still have an issue with it looking like poop. I've changed the resolution on it to different things but still nothing good. It's a toshiba 37 inch tv (non 1080p, just a regular 720p i know gay).

It only looks half decent on 800x600

800x600 is a 4:3 resolution so you're getting a stretched image. set it to the closest thing to 720p (1280x720 ) .. and if for some reason your card doesnt support that,.. at least choose one thats close and 16:9

Yeah that is what I did. So far it's running fine. Now to figure out how to run a game while browsing the internet lol

I can't wait until I can afford a 1080p TV. This TV isn't using the card's max capability at all

You will never find a TV that will be able to support the maximum resolution of the newer GPU's. They'll go all the way up to 2560x1600.

a) Since you are clearly overclocked, it is difficult to diagnose lag without resetting your clock speed to factory default, and ensuring that the lag still exists.

b) Have you tried to OC the video card? Changed anything?

c) Are your drivers up to date for the card?

d) Try to go into the Nvidia control panel and set your resolution rather than using the windows display setting control panel. I believe with your card you can even CREATE your own resolution, and the card will attempt to use it.

As long as you are cloning, if it doesnt recognize the secondary display, it will use your native settings on your primary display. Good luck. The 280 is a great card.

Does it only lag on the TV, or does it also lag on the monitor?

Also, are you now running desktop extend or still clone?

Only on the TV does the lag happen, even with the mouse cursor.

I am running extended desktop, but it did it both with the clone and extended. (only on the tv)

I would try setting the TV to the primary display and see if it still lags. If it does, it sounds like an issue with your video card somehow.

You might want to update or downgrade your drivers, depending on which you are running currently.
