wow, you actually beat xenosaga? i couldnt take it anymore after a few hours of gameplay, it was like you start getting into playing the game and the damn game brings you to a 30min movie play for 2 more minutes omg another 30min cutscene...

Yeah i loved xenosaga. Cosmos was hot and the battle system was awesome.

I missed one email and had to play SO many hands of poker...i probably spent a week of my life playing poker to afford that damn super robot

I was playing Xenosaga till a certain point, where the game just freezes

Ya old thread, I know. I just wanted to say....Xenosaga Episode 1 had a total of....something like 5 to 6 hours of cutscenes and it was absolutely amazing. I have no problem with cutscenes if they are as well done as they always have been in MGS.

People say that the games industry is similar to the movie industry, well sometimes I think it surpasses it. MGS4 makes a good argument for that fact.

And I posted without reading. Xenosaga has been mentioned. Well anyway, the gameplay was awesome as well. Some of the most fun combat in an RPG I've ever played.

Mass Effect was borderline for me.

I guess it really depends on how the cutscenes are done. If they're rendered in the game engine there's only so much the characters are able to do and it makes it much more boring with those weird awkward pauses between actions/lines.
If they're live-action or animated it can make it a little more interesting. For instance I wouldn't have minded if the cutscenes from the original Jedi Knight game were lengthened, then its like watching a new Star Wars movie.
If they're going to use long cutscenes, I hope they at least extend the amount of gameplay between said cutscenes.
