that the wii came out a year after the 360 (and has had no issue keeping pace in sales / developers managing to release plenty of fun games)
The Wii did a great job in sales mostly due to its new novelty and lower price than the other 2. Most games on the Wii are shovelware. The PS3 had a tough launch but it is doing nice now. MS knew they needed to bring out their system first for it to even have a chance to compete but Wii has already past it and the PS3 is catching up quickly. Hopefully that price cut can help the 360.

We all know the $250 price tag has to do with the Wii selling so well. But then again, go to your local Target, Wal-Mart, and Gamestop and check out all the games that are on clearance.
But to keep on topic. There are some that will be bothered by no retro trophies, I couldn't care less. Next thing you know it'll end up being like my brother in-law that won't play with anyone with a Gamerscore under 20,000.

the xbox360 has done NOTHING since it became $280, and plenty of people were buying wii's for 350+. i don't think price is really a factor.. and i don't think you can fairly call "simple" or "fun" a novelty. these are just basic concepts.

that's what happens when systems have the largest install base and lowest development costs. in either case, it's flawed/retarded logic to judge a system by the number of bad games on it. judge it by the number of GOOD games. i guarantee that you don't like the vast majority of songs on itunes, but THAT wouldn't stop you from buying an iPod would it? it only matters how many songs you LIKE are on it.

it's getting there. i wouldn't say it's "doing nice" yet. every single game that was supposed to be "the one" flopped, with the exception of mgs4.. it took over a year for them to match the basic capabilities of the xbox as far as messaging, and even at that, their solution is currently ruining people's consoles(well,.. not ruining people's consoles because they yanked it).

that WOULD have been the case, but with the extremely shaky start of the ps3 they would have been fine launching at the same time. they jumped in front by a year, and STILL had features that sony missed and is still missing to this day. FACT.

im really not sure why the 360 has stagnated so badly.. but im convinced that a lot of ps3's are still moving based on movies as opposed to games.. i just dont understand why anyone other than a mgs nut(or someone who's not into games at all and is just buying based on name) would choose the ps3 today based on the games available.

Riigght, because MGS4 is the ONLY good game available on the PS3.
i didn't say that. but it IS the only good exclusive game that's going to move systems at the moment.
uncharted and ratchet and clank are supposed to be good , but i can't imagine anyone BOUGHT a ps3 for them.
case in point: sony is still showing commercials featuring 2 out of 3 games that are not on shelves yet. FACT.
Why do you care so much about what Sony shows in their commercials? lol That is the second or third time I have seen you post that in a thread. You may not have said that but eluded to it by saying that you can't understand why anyone buys a PS3 other than MGS nuts. There are a lot of good/great games on the PS3, whether you choose to admit it or not. I am not a big believer in "killer apps", I think you should look at the catalog of games and make your purchase based on that. That being said, I think the PS3 and 360 both have a great mix of exclusives and multi-plat games where as the Wii doesn't have much outside of it's 1st party games.

which is my point.. xbox360 and ps3 mostly have all the same games, except that most people who play online play on 360, and you can get achievements in those games. why would you choose a ps3 except to watch movies or play mgs4?

I play online with the PS3 pretty often, and guess what? It's free! You can get trophies in the upcoming games if you care about that kind of stuff, which I don't. FYI, I bought a PS3 for the Sony exclusives, not because of movies and not JUST because of MGS4. How about, MLB 08, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword?. I thought all of those games were awesome and none can be experienced anywhere else but on PS3.

you're right.. there's gotta be about 3 people who bought their ps3 to play heavenly sword

You are completely missing the point, that's just one of the exclusives that the PS3 has going for it. As I stated earlier, it is about the entire lineup, not just one or two "killer apps". You obviously don't like HS (even though I doubt you have ever even played it), but it is one of the many games I enjoy playing on my PS3.

it looks like a decent enough game, and i'd probably play it if i saw it for 20 bucks or so.. but the first thing i heard about the game is that its about 6 hrs long.. i dont pay $60 for games, let alone short ones.

PSN operates like its free too. Horrible online experience on PSN for me vs. Xbox Live.
