MGS4 can't be put on one DVD9. Actually MGS4 takes up 33GB on the Blu Ray. DVD9 doesn't use all 9GBs but only about 7-8GB. So your looking at 4 to 5 discs but probably more since you don't have one disc you have to repeat some data over the disc and also since you can't install the Load times will be much longer. Also throw in Metal gear Online may or may not have to be on another disc which would be lame.
So to think a 33gb game that does use some compression could fit into 1 or 2 discs is not very feasible. Could it be done on the 360 I think so but not in its shape or exact form.
What you have to realize is that games get to sizes like that for reasons other than just "it's a big game". It's laziness, it's repeated textures all over the disc, and it's bragging rights. Everyone wants to have the BIGGGGGEST game.. companies have bragged about that stuff ever since the NES.
Just like Resistance... dont you remember all the hype before it came out? OMG ITS A LAUNCH TITLE AND ALREADY USING 25GB !!!!! 360 IZ DOOMED
Why make it a movie when the game is better than a movie. lol Seriously though, it is like actually playing a movie and you are in control of the lead actor. I am playing it for the second time now and my jaw still drops in amazement at several parts.
I think it would make a great movie, especially for people like me who have no interest in actually play the game or may not have/plan on getting a PS3. I love a great story and this game is similar to some anime that Ive seen. And hey, if they can make even more money in the process, why not?

Your saying MGS4 is that big because of bragging rights? It uses installs since they really do not use repeated textures on the disc. Laziness was on Capcom's part with DMC4 but MGS4 is not. Its a huge game.
So let me get this right, you really believe that MGS4 can be put onto one DVD9? I'm just asking.
Resistance hit at 17gb but it wasn't all game data and stuff. It was other stuff. MGS4 uses some compression already, doesn't really rely on repeated textures, hence the installs. The game requires that much room.
Burnout Paradise requires HDD whether or not you agree with the use of it. It still is required which goes against the only MMO's will require it speech, which before that was no game will ever require it.
the rule is that only mmo's can install, which IS the case.
burnout does not install. period.
im not saying mgs4 can go on 1 dvd, but it sure as hell should fit on 2. (personally id rather switch a disc once then have to wait for installs... im not THAT lazy)

Tell me again, why we are debating how many dvds MGS4 would fill? Anyway, the game in it's current form would not be able to fit on 2 DVDs. Maybe an act per disc. lol I am glad that developers are utilizing the HDD for more than just demos and game add-ons. Whatever makes the game better I am all for it.

No the rule is you would not need the HDD to play games. That was stated so that if you bought a core there wouldn't be any games that you could not take advantage of. Then the rule changed to only MMO's would be allowed to use the HDD thus letting core owners if you want to play MMO's you need a HDD. Regardless you need a HDD to play all of Burnout Paradise. Core owners are screwed which was stated by MS that they never would be.
So your saying a 33GB game can be shoved into 14 to 16GB? What would you cut out? Half the game? Like I said MGS4 doesn't use repeating dataover the Blu ray since the need for installs so you can't say that there is repeated data all over the discs worth about 16gbs. Also since the 360 can't install you would have to repeat data over the DVD9 thus meaning you would to increase the size of the game well unless you make it HDD required. Also by judging with the load times of Mass Effect (which is cool) maybe having HDD required would be better.

that is NOT what burnout does. burnout simply downloads vehicle data temporarily, and deletes it when the user disconnects.
i dont know what they'd cut out, but i guarantee they'd make it happen. neither of us works for konami and thus neither of us knows what can go and what can't. i heard there's tons of commercials on the disc that they show you while the game installs... we'll start there.
it would be far from the first thing to happen in the world of video games that they said "could never be done"
Theres no way you can say it CANT be fit on 2 DVD9's unless you helped programmed the game AND know all of the capabilites that the 360 has. Has anyone seen this certain process the 360 can do? (I forget what its called, its been awhile) They basically made a full 3D (albeit not pretty) FPS level using less than an MB of data. The same concept between WAV and MP3 files. Same quality, completely different sizes thanks to compressing and better programming. I dont believe the MSG4 doesnt use repeated data because of the low read speed of the bluray discs. Installs per act may just mean instead of making you wait 20-35mins for a full install, they said "here, wait 8-10mins and then install the rest at different increments of time."

You heard wrong. There are not tons of commercials to watch during installs. There is, at one point, a total of 5 (maybe 6) channels you can flip through AFTER the first install and all have to do with the game, it is not like they are just McDonald's commercials or something. They are made-up shows that give further insight into the weapons and camo used in the game. A couple of the channels are quite funny too. lol During the installs you get to watch Snake smoke a cigarette while various health warning appear on the screen. lol
I'll ask again though, why are we debating how many dvds MGS4 would fill? It is not like it is going to be on the 360 anytime soon, if at all.
eh,.. chances are it will. "exclusive" doesnt mean a whole lot anymore except with nintendo.
..and on the 1up show they showed a clip from the game of david hayter being interviewed.. what could that possibly have to do with the game? put it on a bonus dvd. hd video is big memory.

You can always just play MGS4 and find out what they have to do with the game for yourself. Being that it is a Kojima game I doubt he would want to remove anything from the game because in his mind it is perfect and wouldn't want to ruin it. I never said it would, without a doubt, not go to 360 but if it does it won't be anytime soon, probably 12-18 months from now. But my personal feeling is that it will not go to the 360 for many reasons, one being that Kojima takes it upon himself to poke fun at non-BD consoles a couple of times during gameplay. lol

I agree with you that exclusive doesn't mean a whole lot anymore more like just timed exclusive. Do I think it will come to the 360. No, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.
Those one time commercials they show are there when the game is installing, which can't be done on the 360 unless you screw Core owners. If you can't install then you have to repeat the data over the dvd's more or have crazy slowdown, load times, etc. I'm not saying the game couldn't ever be done on the 360 just that either it would be a lot of discs or the game would be edited.
I think Metal Gear online will come to the 360 before that though which is also on the MGS4 bluray.

The channels you can flip through are actually after the initial install. They might be there to cover up an initial load time but I have a feeling Kojima added them in just to "screw" with us. You cannot skip them and if you are not paying attention to what they are saying you would think it is just a regular TV programming. My friend thought that he sat on the remote and was making sure his TV was still on the correct input. lmao Kojima is known for his....we'll just call it creativeness. lol
you must not be aware that the only reason bluray games need 50gb is due to the slow as balls read speed....they repeat data all over the disc over and over again....the fact people are beating this game so quickly tells me that it probaly could fit on a dvd9 ....2 if necc the 360 could also use 1 disc as a install disc then disc 2 as a play disc.... also i have another thing that has bothered me that noone is addressing......how can this be a true 10 ? if it takes this long to develop a 10 for the ps3 how can owners and supporters of this system be happy ? that would bother me if i had got a launch system took 3years for this .....finally a 10 so what now another 3yrs ? maybe 1.5 years with what they have learned...... the ps4 will be out by then
are you high again? did you not read up on the read speed and transfer rate of BR? again, faster than DVD.
as for the time it takes to make a "10" for the PS3, who cares? some of the best games i have ever played weren't 10s. and who gives a shit what magazines say honestly? its like you're magazine racing a fucking game man. i would give all the Halo games a one or a two since i can't fucking stand them, other people love the game. i never look too deeply into what other people's opinions are when it comes to games. while games like Bioshock and MGS4 get high scores, i won't like them since i don't play games of that nature.

I thought I got jipped! I was like "WTF!?!?!?!!??! Whats with the workout video!?" then I heard them mention CQC and was like "OHHHHH"
