How is it "bashing" to state a fact that the combination of drive speed and limited memory in the PS3 forces devs to utilize the hard drive for decent loading times? It's not like I'm saying "omg teh ps3 is so gay!" I'm simply stating a fact about it. A fact that you can't possibly refute because it's true.
The funniest thing is when I talk about the 360, people call me a PC fanboy.
When I post about the PS3, I'm a 360 fanboy
When I post that the Wii is a fun system, I'm a Wii fanboy
2 years ago they were calling me a PS2 fanboy, and before that a Dreamcast fanboy.
I guess the only one I didnt get yet is DS fanboy, and that's funny since i own more DS games than anything(and still havent picked up a PSP).
But it would seem to me, when you get called a fanboy of everything, it pretty much just makes you a FAN(of everything)
Hell, if you look back a few days I even recommended a great deal on the PS3 that walmart is having this week. thought about picking it up myself, but i would have been selling the copy of MGS4 it comes with.
And no, I don't work for EGM, though I am a member of the games press so yes these things are interesting to me.(nothing anywhere close to the scale of an EGM or IGN)
You're a DS fanboy. There.
I just want to roll my eyes everytime i see people putting down one console or another. I just dont understand why people even put forth the effort to do so. Why? Who cares? I don't have a problem with installing anything to the hard drive if it cuts load times. You don't even have a ps3, why do you care?
I don't have an xbox 360 but I don't bother to speak my peace about it one way or the other. I don't have to put it down to justify my purchase. I would buy a PS3 just for MGS4, that's how important that game is to me. Obviously it isn't to you, and that's fine. My point is that getting to play that game alone is justification for me. If you're happy with halo, so be it. I don't understand why that's not enough.

oh come on, don't insult me... i've never owned a halo game in my life.
now if you'll excuse me, im going to play Final Fantasy for a few minutes while I take a shit.
And to get this thread some what back on topic, MGS4 is fucking AWESOME!!! I only finished the first act today before I had to come to work but I can't wait to be able to get back home and play a few more hours. Also, if anyone is still wondering, there is an initial install of 8 minutes and then an additional install before each act that says it will take 5 minutes but I timed the one I went through at just a hair more than 3 minutes. I think it is a great idea, I used the break to go take a piss and grab some snacks. lol I think it is a better idea then having super long load times or an initial install that take 30 minutes or so.
The game is taking a while to get anywhere, I don't totally understand the story and I can't get used to the controls. This game is a LOT more stealth based than the old ones were. The past games could hardly be considered stealth at all compared to Splinter Cell (Which was BADASS).
The game does have some nice features as far as Drebin goes

is it really true whats posted in the article above ? the game AI is stupid they bump into you invisible look at your floating head and just walk off??? and the enemy soldiers dont respond differently to having a leg shot out ? thats one of my fav next gen game strategies.....if your rushed by alot of attackers take out some knee caps to knock some down then kill the rest....without all these must have features....what the hell were they working on all this time???? musta been all those cut scenes.....if it takes this long to make a must have good game for ps3 then how is the system going to survive?

that's weird... i heard the complete opposite.. that this one could be played in more of a run and gun style

When they call for back up only about 2 guys showed up, that sort of freaked me out. But no, that part is deffinetely wrong. The old ones is where you could do just about anything you wanted and it didn't matter...stealth my ass. OR maybe I just loved Splinter Cell so much that it's warped my perception of stealth games. Have you played it smog?
I haven't tried shooting anyones legs to see what happens, i'll post back results when I play tonight.
Maybe i'm fighting the change too much...but i'm not crazy about the game. It doesn't "feel" like Metal Gear. It feels like any other game. =\
