see now that i know what konami is doing ......all those reviews are pretty much worthless....i wonder how much schwag konami sent to all those mags to get super reviews ? when i see egm do what they did it makes me wary...
LOL!!!!!!!!
so the vast majority of game site/mags are being railroaded by Konami, because Konami is such a HUGE powerhouse these days........right up there with EA! /sarcasm
sorry, but your logic is fucked. if EGM and one or two other companies are the only ones bitching, i think there might be more to the story than we currently know.
but hey, it has to do with a PS3 product or game, so let's bash it anyway. after all, all the other horseshit that 360 nutswingers have been gloating like little girls about has pretty much vanished. the only thing they have to grasp onto these days are "well......uhhh.....Xbox Live is the bestest!" and "Sony doesn't have any good exclusives". keep reaching for those straws Sony haters.........

i never bashed the game i said that i couldnt trust reviews.....i honestly think the game will be great............. but still overhyped....kinda like halo 3 was but thats not really sonys fault per say they just delayed the game too many times like bungee did halo3 and it caused a overhype.....i think mgs4 will be a system selling game i love games that involve stealth and tact rather then just run and gun......this game/bluray will probaly be the 2 things that get me to buy a ps3....
in a way it is because its the game they have been shilling since the ps3 was released ...but i think solid snake is a pretty awesome character to have as a system mascot......could be worse .....like a overweight short plumber who always risks his neck for some chick and still doesnt get any loving......
id like to think nintendo has switched from mario to Link as the system mascot since the past years zelda games have been better then mario games anyways
Anyway kojima Productions already answered and cleared up the NDA. I would like to point out that Konami is not the first company to put out NDAs. They all do, all the time. Also I didn't see EGM not taking the $800 worth of Halo 3 stuff from Microsoft.
Straight from Ryan Patton:
Quote:
As for the cutscenes, reviewers are more than happy to comment on whether they're too long or short. We simply want reviewers to refrain from describing which scenes are long, thus spoiling some of the experience because players will know what to expect when a scene is unfolding.
I want to make it clear that, from today, reviewers are welcome to discuss the length of the cutscenes and install times, but we ask that they not get too specific about the cinematic times and what happens in later install sequences...

I do, however, hope gamers can appreciate the efforts we go through to keep them protected from reviewers that could spoil some of the MGS4 experience.
Hey man this game will be awesome. Like I said I didn't see anyone complaining when EGM accepted the $800 Halo 3 swag and one even got a job on Bungie.
Here's the funny thing. EGM's editorial integrity is constantly being called into question, and they think that this stupid fiasco over MGS4 is going to shine a more favorable light on them?
The funny thing is that the limitations Konami wanted to impose on their comments...PROBABLY involved giving away plot points that they didn't want to be given away until the player plays the game. EGM has ruined more than one games storyline for me in the past. Fuck EGM, I'm glad to know this. I wont be reading their MGS4 coverage until I play the game.

That is exactly why they put the cutscene stuff on NDA as to not spoil the game. They want people to go in fresh and so they don't want any spoilers and EGM puts spoilers in their reviews sometimes without even warning the reader.
who questions egm's integrity? they have a big list of publishers who wont even send them games ahead of time. they're always the one publication who calls companies out for this bullshit.
you guys want to accept this shit because its Metal Gear Solid 4, and yes, we all know its going to be at least a "good" game, probably great... but if you accept bullshit with MGS4, don't complain when you see a 94 metascore for the next Kane and Lynch and then feel like you got roped out of 60 bucks

so, wtf is he saying? nothing.
..and what in the fuck are "later install sequences"? to me, that implies that there's installs throughout the game. that statement alone intrigues the shit out of me, and if he's not being mistranslated, i completely understand why he wouldnt want anyone talking about it. that would be a complete deal breaker.
hey,.. here's an even more interesting thought.. maybe those long ass cut scenes are covering up installs? maybe that's the big mystery.

Readers question their integrity all the time. I read the mag, I browse the forums. It's not a secret. No one toots their own "integrity" horn more than EGM. Guilty conscience?

i think you must be thinking about Gamespot.
never heard anyone question EGM, and they have the actions to back up everything they say.

They are saying we don't care if you say a cutscene is this long just as long as you don't say which one. Its right there he said we don't care if they discuss length as long as they don't get specific and say like well the first cut scene is like 45 minutes. They are trying to prevent spoilers from happening. I'm ok with that. Like I said EGM has spoiled games before.
EGM can claim integrity all they want but they are the same mag that said the 10 they gave Halo 3 is not the same as a 10 they gave Bioshock.
Also its the same mag that is close enough to Bungie that Halo 3 would have got a 10 from them if it was just stick figures. They accept things and follow NDAs. Once again this is normal practice from a company to send out and NDA. MGS4 is not the first and not the last.
I think I remember hearing from Adam Sessler [Xplay] on a podcast about the cut-scenes. Its supposed to be something like an 8-10 minute initial install and then a 2-3min install per chapter. Meh, I can care less either way. My first game Ill play on this dusty system will be GT5 (the actual game, not the demo )
