Looking at a new home theater system. I kind of want the type with smaller speakers since they take up less room and all. I already have a good subwoofer and my receiver is also decent. So basically I am looking for the five speakers for surround. I am not opposed to getting an "all in one" setup since that seems to be the popular configuration, but I would like to just get speakers. Thing is, if I can find wireless rear channels, that would be optimal.
Any ideas? I don't mind replacing my sub and receiver if I must, but I would think that someone makes just speakers with wireless feeds that don't cost a lot.
WHOA! That certainly does look good. Honestly that is too much for my tastes. While I enjoy sound quality, I was looking to spend under a grand, more like 600 tops.
Thanks for the feedback. I have seen a few Klipsch systems out there, perhaps I should look into them more?
Normally I agree in that I am not a fan of boxed systems, but I want small speakers due to space in the house and I would like them to match, so I figured a boxed set is the way to go.
for the satelitte speakers i would buy some JBL's or bose.
Disagree completely, Bose is overpriced junk. If anything I would recommend Klipsch or Energy speakers. This is the setup I am getting at Christmas time.
Basically, if you're looking for speakers with really balanced low, mid, and high frequencies you will be unable to find better speakers for the price. The sub is punchy without being overbearing. ***The amp can be switched out for another brand, or you could keep yours.*** I chose the Pioneer because it is one of the only amps in that price range that can truly decode DTS-HD through 5 speakers. The HDMI video-in is nice for gaming consoles as well.
I have heard the speakers and the subwoofer hooked up to the Pioneer amp and they honestly rival speakers that are in the 1000 dollar range and completely blow away any home-theatre-in-a-box. Music and movies sound great.

Figured I re-chime into this with more specific links
I've used a Pioneer (for a grand total of 2 days This one to be exact and was utterly disappointed). The one Chaotic is mentioning is actually a lower model than that so I'd take that under caution. It's very weak despite it's power numbers. From what I've been told if you want a decent AVR and want Pioneer try the Elite lineup...although I cannot really recommend either.
I used to own a Denon and loved it but right now my baby is the Onkyo TX-NR807. This is it. For cheap, if you can find the old TX-SR805 model (skip the 806 it blows) that would be great. Think of these things as long-term investments so buy the right parts the first time.
As for speakers I've never listened to Energy speakers but I've heard decent things about them. So check his out. Although if you want brute power and really great clarity this is my setup...

i agree with you on the brand new price... but they are definately nice speakers.
Look up onkyo, they are the best imo. I have the hts-7100 and i love it and wouldnt trader it for anything then another onkyo
yah i had a set of those but they sounded great on everything but my 360 and ps3 had a weird hollow sound to it....after i tried countless wire combos i switched to a cheapo pioneer and it sounds so so so much better for 150 bucks...Pioneer hts-gs1 600W 5.1 Surround Sound System For XBOX 360 - HTS-GS1 - Home Theaters i know ur a ps3 guy but seriously this system is way underpriced....sounds amazing

i would recommend sony ones ,it is so cool in its sound quality,Sony Bravia HT-IS100 5.1 Micro Home Theater System with HDMI .mine is this one ,i think this one would be very cheap nowadays.
stay away from HTIB...i run a Sony D(?)720 7.1 700 watt surround amp with 3 HDMI connections...i got it last year on black friday for $199
and then i got the 5.1 take energy classic...the link is above...those are $600 but i got them for $369 on black friday....my suggestion is hit Best Buy on black friday and piece something nice together...
mine was less than $600, but it retailed for over $1000...i have a awesome setup and the shit even freaks my dog out when hes laying on the couch with me...
also the speakers are very small and shiny piano black so they look nice and clean..
if your looking for something that has better hanging abilities and aiming etc...definately look into bose, but thats going to cost you...
