Gameplay Details:

This is what the HUD looks like. In the bottom left, you can see your squadmates health and names. Right above the radar shows what perks you are carrying. When I played there were 3 perks-sprinting, cloaking, and halogram. The sprinting makes you run when you hold LB, cloaking makes you invisible (when you cloak your radar jams and you can't really hear anything around you). The halogram creates a halogram of yourself, so enemies will shoot at both.

As you can see Health bar is back.

I've been out of the Halo world for a while...but how does this one tie into the story?

is based of the book The Fall of Reach. Story is also in the manual first page of HALO: Combat evolved.

pretty much how it all started to go south for Humans. Right before the first HALO ring was found.

Oh and one more thing... Halo Reach will also be coming to the PC. Day and date with the 360 version. With dedicated servers, mods, and a console.

Prequel. Fall of Reach is a pretty sick book, lots and lots of action. Not about Master Chief either. about all the rest of the Spartans that are on Reach defending it from the covy onslaught.

During the battle on Reach, Chief was in a space ship with a few other Spartans (i believe), this is where they find out about the first HALO ring.

Wiki Fall of Reach. pretty much gives you the story.
