That is honestly the damn truth. I cant do nuthin but agree with PC's going outdated so quick. I've only have my Dell XPS 2 years and Crysis runs like pure shit on LOW settings.
I bought my Dell XPS and 360 the same year. To this day... I bought COD4 for $59.99 on my 360 and it runs Perfect. If i go and spend $49.99 on the PC version... i have to buy another damn NVidia Geforce 8800 card because my 7300 cant handle it. FUCK.
Starcraft2 is ftw... thx.
"shooter games are for a keyboard and mouse" NO! keyboard is for typing characters and mouse is for navigating through window boxes. Game controller is for....GAMES -=D
Bingo.
My system was built Fall 2002, ran all the games fine till a game called F.E.A.R. came out 3 years later. It ran like crap/ system did not run it comfortably, so I lowered the settings and suffered till I spent money on more ram and a better GPU.
But hey, you'll save $10.00-$20.00 bucks vs the Consoles for the game! WOOOOOHOOO!

so i just cracked open kane's wrath and i noticed the system specs... apparantly my OLD computer could still run it. so there you go.. what would now be an 8 year old computer(that was not build top of the line($700), and was primarily for college work) can still run games released this week(and i'm not saying all of them, obviously)

Thats the thing, some games take little power to run for nowadays PCs and some even older
The following are the official minimum system requirements for C&C 3: Kane's Wrath.
OS: Windows XP, Vista (32-bit only)
Installed: Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
CPU: Intel P4 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 2000+ or faster for Windows XP
Intel P4 2.2GHz or AMZ Athlon 2200+ or faster for Vista
RAM: 512 MB (1 GB for Vista) or more
Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible video card
Video card with 64MB or more memory and one of these chipsets is required:
ATI Radeon 8500 (9500 for Vista) or greater
NVIDIA GeForce4 (6100+ for Vista) or greater
Like you said that computer obviously cant run them all.
What you end up saving in cost of games you lose when you upgrade hardware to run the latest game comfortably. What I'm saying it PC gaming is more expensive ( but great because of upgradability and quality of graphics).
not read the last chunk but I was wondering how does multiplayer work for a PC? Like do you hook up 2 or 3 keyboards to play together? I always assumed that the only way to do mutltiplayer or co-op was doing a lan party.
for me that makes a console a better deal that I can pay on the same console on my tv with friends.
like for rock band you would need like 4 computers so if you get a pc for 600 then you need to multiply that by 4 to just play one game right?

you had xp 8 years ago I did not think it has been out that long nor was a lot of the other requirements

just like on xbox360, most games are only single machine games... one player plus online play.
for the games that are 2+ players on one machine, you just plug in as many controllers as you want.. same thing as consoles. you can actually buy an xbox360 receiver for $20 and use your wireless 360 controllers on it(wired 360 controllers are good out of the box)

but all im saying is that to assume you HAVE to be playing the game on full specs is incorrect thinking. every game nowadays adjusts itself based on your computer, so install the game, play it, and dont worry about the settings.
if you're not obsessed with having every little graphic effect turned on to max, computers last a lot longer.
and now that all nvidias are all sli compatible, assuming you buy an sli compatible mobo, you can just tack on another when the first gets outdated, which will bolster the performance of the NEW card.
also, nvidia cards will soon be patched with a physics engine, allowing them to render hardware effects that consoles won't be able to do at all this generation. (especially for those who choose to dedicate a card to it, though that's not necesarry.)

I hope you got a huge monitor LOL
actually a ton of games are for 2 or more players. I prefer 4 player but willing to deal with 2 at time.
I actually use a wired controller for the pc for a bit for oblivion.
one thing that I am curious about is how and why is it that updates cost for consoles but not pcs?
you know most tv's have vga input now, right? and many newer video cards even have hdmi out, so you're not stuck on a monitor.

simply because that's what Microsoft deemed. they won't let publishers put out free content except under certain guidelines, and i guess they just follow suit on PSN.
Microsoft has also admitted that the $10 difference in price was an arbitrary decision they made.

I dont mean full specs......but comfortably.....for my example FEAR ran like garbage unless it was 800x600 rez Mudium settings or 1024x768 low settings.
The new technologies today are changing the longevity of PCs however it still is pretty expensive compared to a console. I do understand what you are saying and I am going to build my PC to be able to run most new PC games when I do it, only it's not a priority vs the console because of cost.
