Oh yeah, I know that I was just pointing that out since smoger always wants to play that res game.....
Im looking for a PC game with good graphics, lay it on me PLEASE.....
All I have is crysis, im looking for better then console graphics, what are my options??
your options are: any game thats on both platforms.
even if everything else is identical(which it's not, because consoles cant do DX10 effects, and certain other effects based on the situation..again like shadows in multiplayer cod4), you still have higher quality textures on the pc version to support the higher res modes that the xbox could never crank out such as 2560 and up!
..and in the future when hardware is more powerful, you can count on the games users to create even BETTER textures, like they've already done for Half Life 1, Oblivion, etc.

Thats a shitty option for me, because if I can play it from the couch...I will, I am lazy.
So remember when we were talking about crysis before?? And the only thing I hadnt done was install it on vista? It actually runs slower on my vista partition then my xp partition.
I am no Vista guru, so maybe the OS needs some stuff ripped out, but I was a little dissappointed with DX10
5 pages and you still havent wrapped your feeble mind around the fact that a pc does not have to play future games at optimal settings to match the output of the 360/ps3.
again...
srt-4 with 87 = faster than a corrolla
but the srt-4 can go even faster if you spend more on 93 so the corolla is a better car?
doesnt make much sense, does it?
You made you point about how PCs are better cost wise than other people think. Then you came up with a upgrade cost that doesn't apply to everybody when it comes to PCs.
Thats what we are talking about.
The benefit to a PC is to be able to have better graphics with the newest technologies versus consoles. However it comes with a cost.
Dayum!!!! This is totally a nerd arse thread if peeps are arguing over what, a game? Lmao!
Ive ps2, ps3 and xbox (non 360) and i love my blueray ps3. Maybe ill get wii? Ive if lucky 15 - 20 games between them all. My xbox came loaded with games when i got it new via a friend already moded.

I mod my shit, but dont bring it up in front of smoger, he will blame the state of the union on your lack of developer support

People arguing over which car is faster = people arguing over which gaming platform is faster
this is a dumb thread, but i'm a dumb person so I have to post something-
I built my PC in 03 for about 1,200 (a lowball guess since I don't have receipts)- I've since upgraded the video card, RAM (which is limited by my mobo) and hard drives are limited b/c I don't have SATA, vid card is limited bc I only have AGP, monitor was upgraded as well- I'm at about 1,600 w/o games- now if I want to play next gen or even this gen I would have to build a new PC (1,400 or so), whereas if I had a ps2 before (200+1,900 for my current TV (tv which is something everyone has) and console)- I would only be at 2,100 (not including games)- A new PC now + my old PC = over 2,500
not to mention when I update my PC the old "gaming" pc, my old (1,000+) PC is garbage
when I update my console, my TV stays, and I only lost 400

another dumb response. read the first post, and then make an argument that makes sense.
first, you dont factor it "without games". you need games to play games. therefore, the price of games is a factor in the cost of gaming. just like the cost of gas is part of the price of driving.
dont you agree that a slightly more expensive car thats great on gas could be cheaper to drive than a cheap car that sucks on gas?

you're redirecting the focus-
games are 10 more for 360 - not much even over 2 yrs even at 1 game a month (only 240) by that time you would need to upgrade your PC, not every 4 years like you lead to believe. and the gaming standards on consoles are relatively static- it will always look as good so long as you have the appropriate tv- on a PC you may have to upgrade your video card and RAM, if not the processor and mobo- which are more than a 400 console that will last 4 years- even with only the upgrades on your PC - the rest is trash- old consoles are still useable on any TV

The OP doesn't understand what he is arguing. He makes a thread about PC gaming systems are cheaper than people think, posts cost numbers that are accurate for consoles, but not for PCs (to enhance his argument). Then others call him out on his PC cost number being bogus, so now he says,
"dont you agree that a slightly more expensive car thats great on gas could be cheaper to drive than a cheap car that sucks on gas?"
Only slightly more expensive is actually double the cost for the system, if not more. Which is why a lot of people buy consoles instead of building gaming PCs. AND to say that games are gonna make it cheaper over the long run maybe true, but now your limited to what the PC has to offer. (No good racing sims, no rockband, how long did it take for Halo 2, and now GH how long?) If you really are into the genres the PC has to offer immediately, then by all means build the PC.
This is coming from a person who will build a PC capable of playing games at better quality than a 360, because when I build my new PC I want it to last longer than 3 years.
That is honestly the damn truth. I cant do nuthin but agree with PC's going outdated so quick. I've only have my Dell XPS 2 years and Crysis runs like pure shit on LOW settings.
I bought my Dell XPS and 360 the same year. To this day... I bought COD4 for $59.99 on my 360 and it runs Perfect. If i go and spend $49.99 on the PC version... i have to buy another damn NVidia Geforce 8800 card because my 7300 cant handle it. FUCK.
Starcraft2 is ftw... thx.
"shooter games are for a keyboard and mouse" NO! keyboard is for typing characters and mouse is for navigating through window boxes. Game controller is for....GAMES -=D
