As much as I like Blizzard's older stuff, I think the 3 pieces of IP they have are getting tiresome.
The past few years with Blizzard have valued "cash-in" over "creativity".
I wouldn't say that about the diablo releases. They ruined me lol. Diablo 2 accounted for all bad grades/poor performance acquired by me after its release.

I can't play the diablo games anymore, I used to think they were fun but I can't stand playing item collecting games anymore, and that's all the games are about - equipment advancement. It's like having a fast car that you can only look at and can't drive.
At this point I prefer a game with a deeply involved and creative storyline then mindless gameplay.
Aside from WoW, what has Blizzard cashed in on? They haven't made anything new since Wow..
and that didn't get to be the #1 PC game without being creative
Oh please, like WoW was first in its league. It's followed suit with every other of the 10 million MMO's in the world before it, the only difference was Blizzard used a well established universe.
And my point is exactly what you just said, Blizzard has not actually created anything since the big 3 IP's, they've merely expanded on the Warcraft and Diablo universe, hence the lack of creativity and the excess of cashing in on a series.
im confused,.. where did i say WoW was the first MMO?
I never said you stated WoW was the first MMO, I said you implied that WoW made a big leap in creativity above every other MMO, i.e. first in it's league.
WoW is cut and dry MMO through and through, it has nothing different than any other MMO released before. It's not creative, yet what it lacks in creativity it makes up for in Blizzard's ability to market.
no i didn't... i said they cashed in on it and that it was the only thing they've done in years..
it IS creative... they took a universe they created and fleshed it out with tons of backstory for fans to discover, simplified the MMORPG gameplay to a point where it was easy for "normal people" to understand, yet still deep enough for the hardcore players to have fun, and wrapped it up into a very attractive package that wasn't pushing hardware and has fairly universal appeal. that's something no other MMORPG has been able to do

Sorry, I mistook the sentence in bold for implying it was creative.
Funny, your description made me think immediately of EverQuest, an exact match for what you just described.
WoW in fact is a direct ripoff of EQ with a different universe.
i said it was creative, which is was.. not "the most" creative, which is what you're implying i said.
..and clearly everquest screwed something up, never having reached a half million subscribers vs. WoW's 10 million
everquest was for D&D nerds. it had no mass appeal whatsoever
As I said, Blizzard had the marketing that Verant (at the time, SOE came later) did not. Verant was a startup unlike Blizzard which was already dealing in the millions at WoW's conception.
Not only that but at the time that EQ started, online gaming was not the gigantic behemoth that it is today. Everybody has a PC and broadband these days, whereas 10 years ago it was not nearly the case.
And EQ definitely did have mass appeal, half a million people subscribed to a pay-per-month game back in 2001 was unheard of.
