played about 2 hrs of it at a relatives house,.. thought it was ok at best,... but had no urge to pick it up and finish it on my own. controls were overly simple, combat was bland, and the lab scenes completely broke the narrative.
i dont care if a game is 10 hours long instead of 6 or 7 if 3 of those hours are spent in a room listening to people talk. thats why games like COD4 and Half Life 2 are so great...all killer no filler.

I like some filler though... like mass effect. Good story, etc. and didn't have to spend the whole time running around. Kinda like watching a movie for awhile.
Simple controls? Count me in... (I must be gettin' old... I miss the D pad and "A" and "B" buttons only.)

i don't mind a little narative but you'll see what i mean. there's a segment towards the beginning of the game where you literally STAND in a room watching 2 people talk through a window(you can't hear them) for about 5-7 minutes. you can walk around during this but nothing in the room is interactive at all.
when that came up i was sitting there goin you gotta be fucking kidding me.
and what i mean about the simple controls is that you're climbing buildings, balancing on poles, swinging around.. doing all this really cool stuff... but all you're really doing is holding a button and pushing in the direction you want to go. would have been really satisfying to have some sense of accomplishment in that regard. if there was, it would be a game people would play just to sandbox that stuff. going the simple route just kept the game from being the next grand theft auto.

I hear ya. I thought Half Life 2 was like that in several respects though.
I don't really look for a sense of accomplishment with my games though... I look for a sense of wasted weekends and missing beers.
Beat it already. It was pretty cool. It's Sort of a Prince of persia wannabe. Can't wait till I get my hand on GTA4 or MGS4. Also luv Halo3 & Call of duty multiplayer online.

Yeah I agree, there was alot of talking and once you get past the initial "wow", you realize that you are doing exactly the same thing over and over again.
i liked it. it had two stories going...the lab scenes had their own thing going on in their time. if you do somestuff and read the e-mails on the computers you get some info on whats going on in their time. the ending also has some hints to past events that happend. its not the end, there will be a second one.
