Default another tv thread....

i know there is one like 5 post down, but i didnt want to post in that so here goes my post looking for either or i like the samsung as samsun OWNS! but i REALLLY!!! want 1080p and my price range is right at 500 bucks....i know its low but i found 2 tvs that i have seen side by side and both look good.....so the main question is on a 32inch tv is 1080 really better then 720????

Walmart.com: Samsung 32" 720p LCD HDTV with Built-in Digital Tuner, LN32B360: TVs

Walmart.com: Vizio 32'' Class Series Full-HD 1080p LCD HDTV w/ Java Bezel (Brown Bezel), VOJ32: TVs

i know walmart is not the best place to tv shop but a tv is a tv and i have a BUNCH of gift cards for walmart so thats where im looking, o and the samsung is actually like $438 in the store........

yup. IMO, it will last you a lot longer and will have better contrast than the Vizio. I've seen too many of my friends go to walmart and get those Vizio's and they go out on them. Plus they aren't that sharp when tuned. I have a 720p Samsung back from 2005 and its still strong as im typing on it right now.

You usually get what you pay for in electronics.

true true, and i guess the 1080 probly is only a factor on 42" and bigger.....and can you explain what things to tune.....didnt know you could tune a tv i mean i know you can mess with contrast and all that stuff but didnt know it could make that big of a diff what things should i "tune", adjust......i should probly play with my 50" as it doesnt look so hot IMO and its a Samsung....and that thing i had for 9 months and best buy had to come replace eveything on the inside of it......but since then it has been fine

Get the Samsung for sure.

Dont always buy in for the '1080p'. Go for the amount of 'hz', 'response time' & 'dynamic contrast ratio'. <--- That's what makes the picture clear and crisp.

Samsung Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 60,000 : 1
Vizio Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 6,500 : 1
((( Dynamic Ratio means how dark and deep the blacks will appear; with a 6,500:1 ratio, thr black color in your tv will look more grey-ish rather than black )))

Samsung Response Time: 6sec
Vizio Response Time: 6.5sec
((( 0.5sec is a huge picture difference when watching sports )))

Samsung > *

Even though the screen is smaller on the Samsung...you'll be a million times happier once you see the clarity of the picture.

Shit...if you really want to compare both tvs. Just 'em both and put them side by side on your house (since walmart lightning isnt the same as your house) so you can see the difference. Then just return the tv you least like.....it's not like they make a big deal about returns anyway.

1080p only applies to Blu-Ray, some HD games, and limited HDTV. ( I think I saw somewhere that Dish Network broadcasts 1080P).

Also, like you said I see absolutely no difference between 1080p & 1080i/720p with TVs 42" and below from a reasonable viewing distance.

If you're getting a 32", definately stick with 720p and like most others said, Samsung is extremely good quality. They used to make Sony's panels, but not sure if they still do.

Ehhhh...

Have you seen a 42" Samsung 1080p 120hz???

Ive you have.......then you wouldnt of made this vauge comment.

If you compare a vizio to an element. Then yes, image might be the same. But when comparing a cheap brand to a Samsung. There's just no comparisson. Shit...even if the vizio is 1080 and the samsung is 720, the samsung will still outshine the vizio.

Maybe I should have clarified, but resolution difference just isn't noticeable. Image quality such as motion blur and others are whole different topic. I was strictly comparing resolution.
