I thought it was strange of sony to make an announcement where they didn't end up shooting themselves in the foot and then promptly placing said foot into mouths, but they didn't dissapoint.. just one day after news of the Slim PS3, we learn...

The thought of owning a PS3 was nice, but my sale is off the table for now.

There is a $100 add on to the PS3 that plays PS2 games. Its called a PS2. You want to play PS2 games so bad buy a PS2.
Nail on the head right there. Who knows what cards Sony is going to play, considering that b/c could very well be a firmware update away. Your loss Smoger , you're missing out on an amazing piece of technology.
FYI - Software emulation of the Emotion Engine is patented and most likely being coded for the cell as we speak. Sony now just needs to emulate the Graphics Synthesizer from the PS2.

not if you already have a library of Xbox games, or if there were games on that console you wanted to play but not enough to actually buy an Xbox for.
In the case of the PS2, nearly EVERYONE has a game library they would like to carry over, much moreso than the Gamecube or Xbox, so it would make perfect sense.

i have a ps2. it won't last forever. i'm not buying a 10 year old console when it dies, and in another year or two, i wouldn't even be able to, even if i wanted. in addition, show me a ps2 that can upscale my games.

One of the Sony big shots cannot with full confidence that b/c isn't coming back, what about all of the other big shots?

Smoger you're the biggest little bitch when it comes to videogames period. You won't buy a PS3 now because it doesn't have BC with PS2 games? Like you couldn't buy a used PS2 Slim in about 2yrs if your current one ever died. Im sure there would be plenty on Craigslist for $40. Yet you don't mind spending that kind of money for any of the things the 360 is missing out of the box (i.e. free internet gaming, wifi, blu-ray, etc.) Dude honestly you are the gayest person and will nitpick something to the death. Just admit you dont like Sony and will never buy a PS3.

That's why people should just stop bitching and buy both Right? I wouldn't have purchased the PS3 I have now if it didn't have BC... I have 21 PS1 and PS2 games combined. I didn't want to lose out of being able to play them... Considering that my PS2 was really old, bulky, and didn't always work correctly. Ya, I paid more for BC, but it was worth it because I didn't have to buy another system.

Right? I wouldn't have purchased the PS3 I have now if it didn't have BC... I have 21 PS1 and PS2 games combined. I didn't want to lose out of being able to play them... Considering that my PS2 was really old, bulky, and didn't always work correctly. Ya, I paid more for BC, but it was worth it because I didn't have to buy another system.
