I'm new, so if this is been widely discussed get rid of it, but I'm just curious who people went to to get their SRT's and if that dealer's service dept. is mod friendly. I have a few dealers saying the can get me the price I want on one w/ my trade-in, 1.8T Jetta, but I'm not trusting anyone till I see it in paper.
So where did you buy, look? Who were pricks, who were cool? I'm only 22 but I no how to play the dealer game and won't buy unless it's right. To me I have the upper-hand b/c I have a nice car, so they have to get me to get rid of it.
Any info would be great, about anything SRT-4. I'm slowly learning. I know a lot about dubs now and didn't know anything a year ago, so I'm willing to learn. Thanks for the help in advance.
I got mine at Whitnell here is Salem. Usual sales stuff, jerked around a bunch, but they ended up giving me the price I wanted. Really like the service staff, wish they more informed about the SRT-4. Won't warranty the upgrades and if you race at the drags, they will void it.
Ron Tonkin in Portland was “offering” 200 cheaper, but I decided to get it local.
I bought at Withnell as well. Positive buying experience.
I'm with Bald Dude in that I wish they knew more about the car. They offered and sold me Cruise Control with mine, only to find out while it was listed as an option that they basicaly had to rip out the whole steering column to do it and therfor weren't going to pay for it after they sold it to me. 1) They shouldn't have told me that it was an option and then sell it to me if it wasn't an option (turns out it's not supposed to be an option 2) I should have made them pay for it anyway since it was part of the purchase. Oh well.
I only wanted cruise on a performance vehicle because of the crazy miles I put on it. I've put 7100 miles on mine since March 13, 2004. Averages out to like 58 miles a day.
As for price negotiation, they were asking $24kish on the sticker and I got it for $21kish because I'd been talking to the salesman over e-mail for the prior week and they already had the one I wanted on the lot. At the point I bought it, people seemed to think I didn't get stung on the price. Couple of months later with a little looking you can get an '04 under $20k easy approaching $19.

Silver '04 You have been weighed. You have been measured. And you have been found wanting.
Well, I've had mine for little over a month now. (And so far, I've only added the catch can, Mopar BOV, Stage1, STS and AGP WGA... Am I slow or what?). I looked around for quite a while. I have a 2003 Hemi Ram that I bought from Dodge of Puyallup. I have a great relationship with a particular sales person there who cut me a fantastic deal on my truck. So I went to him first. He gave me what he called his best price and would not budge a bit. It seemed a little high, so as a gut check, I made some calls and located the exact cat I wanted at Dodge of Bellevue. They had the price listed at $2k less than what my guy could do.
Anyway, if you want no frills, this is the way to go. I called Steve Kim, told him I wanted it for a particular price and he agreed pretty readily (Hint: if you catch them at the end of a fiscal quarter, they want sales revenue!) Drove up there that night and shook his hand, wrote him a check and drove it home. He stuck to his word and it was the easiest time I've ever had buying a vehicle. Bellevue is East of Seattle and is a long drive for me. But I paid cash for the car and the $2k difference was well worth it. So IMHO, taking the drive to Bellevue from OR would be well worth it. The drive is a hassle, but you'll more than make up for it with the sales experience and the savings.
EDIT: BTW, I have an E-Blue w/ side airbags (shoulders are too damn wide for the Viper seats) and the sunroof. Paid $20,721.
So this fiscal quarter would be ending in September right, if I can divide 12/4 correctly.
Yup. Dodge of Bellevue (which is a child of the AutoNation corporation) has it's fiscal year aligned with the calendar year. But it looks like they have the same deal I got going now on 3 cars they have in stock. (ref www.autotrader.com)
Other dealers will vary, but I would imagine most of them would be aligned with the calendar year. (But can you really wait until Sept? These cars are AWESOME!)
Got mine as an Ad car at Dick's Country Dodge in Hillsboro, OR for $20K with sunroof and Kicker options. Brother-in-law works at the Dick's MacKenzie Ford, so he set me up with a salesperson that treated me very nice.
The service department always treated me well with my '95 Neon, but I don't know how well they will do with the SRT-4. They've been able to answer all of my questions about the maintenance schedule and seem to know the vehicle.
