My budy just bought a 06 SI and says it's a Mustang/Neon eater. Of course I own Mustangs and a SRT-4, just wondering. I'm not up to speed on rice rockets and such, more of a Muscle Car guy. I told him I'd smoke him in either car...LOL. I know them SI's rev to like 9000 rpm, but my Stang rev limits at 7800 (JMS chip). It superized me because he is a Chevy guy and has a 66 Chevelle and a 69 Nova, and he has never been into imports. I have ST II with toys but it's not installed yet, waiting for my shop to be built. Will I have any problems with him? It's stock by the way.

haha...Yeah that's what I thought. I only wish the SRT could rev a little higher, I'm always hitting the rev limitter when messing with someone. Just used to the Stangs powerband I quess.

Ricer myth # 458 - Leaving your body kit unpainted saves weight and looks cool Ricer myth # 459 - The higher your engine revs, the faster you will go
Ricer myth # 460 - If Vin Diesel said so, it must be true

If I were you, I'd be worried about his fast interior.
why do you want to rev higher? because 30 mph in 1st gear isnt enough? 65 in 2nd aint cutting it? 125 in 4th way too low? oh yeah, still making nice power at 6000 rpm is why.
after that it does deteriorate, so no real special need to rev higher.
I had a an early 89 taurus sho that had no rev limiter and with underdrive pullies I regularly took that thing to 8k+ It was fun, but in my opinion high reving engines are not nearly as cool as having low end torque that you can actually use in daily driving without looking like a ricer reving your engine up to redline all day long.

Right, as you stated, still making nice power at 6000 rpm. The power band is still pulling hard and I hit the rev limitter that's all. I need a shift light or something. I'm used to lower end V-8 type torque. But I never even needed to look at a tach, I could feel the engine running out of steam on the top and knew I needed to shift. This thing keeps on pulling then, blah, I hit the rev limitter. On my 4V Stang or my 67 with a built 302, I could feel when I needed to shift, that's all. Guess I'm not used to it. I had a 95 Neon SOHC that was my previous daily driver and it would rev up there no problem, that's where the power was. I could pull past someone because they had to shift and I didn't and I would pull a little ahead for when I had to shift. I will probably like the ST II with it's 6500 rev limit, I will most likely be able to feel the power start dropping off before it hits the limitter. I'm not saying I need to rev to the moon, I know the 2.4L has a long stroke which gives good torque, but limits RPM's.

I work for a Honda dealer and I am slowly starting to like those lil cars, and I mean little as in almost small as you can get. Seems like a great single person commuter car that rarely needs to haul anything or anyone, or just wants a fun daily driver. The 6 speed tranny, LSD, and the way the pedals are setup for very easy rev-match downshifting and heel-toe is very impressive IMO. The car has a ton of future potential and I would grab one up fast as a good used car, but no way would I but it new unless I won a lottery, lol. Anyways performance specs according to Road and Track Mag make me laugh, really seems not a lot better than a base Civic. can be seen here. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=3
The long and short, take a spark plug out of a stock SRT-4 and it might be a close race, LOL!!

"The Cobalt firmly grabs you and whisks you along your way instantly. It does so with authority and poise, but while slipping relatively unnoticed through traffic, never being violent, or dare I say it, frightening. When you ask the SRT-4 to take you somewhere fast, it punches you in the face, throws you over its shoulder, and runs, screaming, so quickly that its tires can barely keep up."
