Well well well, its about that time. Shop locations???
Well we have to really start looking and I need a shop in the local area.
Now I have this crazy ass idea so listen for a minute. I want to open an indoor carting place. With the shifter cart track going in at Page Ranking and me needing a shop to build cars in I figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone. I have a place in mind but it will be very expensive to rent. So I need some input from the locals if they would be interested with something like this.
Here is what we have in mind. There is a place that has 19,000 sq ft of space and the shop next to it is empty as well (total of 22,000 sq ft could be possible). I want to do an indoor carting venue with a speed shop intergrated into it. Carting would be out front with the shop in the back (dyno, parts, lifts, ect). There would be entry points for both areas (if I get both buildings) so there would be little to no confusion on "where" to go. What do you all think? I will be doing a market survey on this in the next 2 weeks and I will post up the results. We will have not only carts to drive in there but we will be doing the shifter carts sales and parts with the shifter cart track being so close. Now the reason for this idea, no shops are avalible in the area (Covington), they have a car meet every Friday in the parking lot right across from the building that I want. The people that run carts could be interested in getting parts for there car to make it run faster. I am sure that I can think up a whole bunch of other issues as well but thats the gist for now. Would you go to a place like that to get your car worked on and then run the carts while you wait for you car? Seems like a no brainer for me but let me know what you think. The only problem that I have, money and it will takes lots of it. I want to have it open before summer so I can take advatage of all the kids coming down for the summer and running the carts. I am kind of torn about getting into this right now since we have a ton of things I want to get done but it could really turn out into something good for both us and the performance car industry. Hit me up with what you think guys, thanks.
What the hell is karting? I say go for it if you finacially can take the intial hit for the expenses. Like you said there are a ton of things you already have to have done....soooo what will getting this place do? Obviously it will create more room and allow you to work better, but right now what is it good for? By getting this place is it going to help you aid/finish alot of the projects and products you got going on right now? If by getting a place like this will help you get the items your working on now done quicker and smoother I say go for it. If its not worth it right now at the moment because it will only add to the headache maybe wait a little longer until things calm down some?
Example would be my aunt and uncles business. They were swamped with there work and needed a bigger place badly. Mainly for storage, but could also get bigger and better video editing equipment. This of coarse would streamline there work and make things much easier, but they had to decide if they wanted the headache of moving to a bigger place at the time. They were already swamped with work and thought they could do it. They ended up realizing adding all the work involved with settling on a new place, ordering new equipment, getting it installed, etc would just be too much. In the end they decided to hold off until they caught up for the most part on there work before moving forward.
Kart racing or Karting is a variant of open-wheeler motor sport with simple, small four-wheeled vehicles called karts, go-karts, or gearbox/shifter karts depending on the design. They are usually raced on scaled-down circuits. Karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher and more expensive ranks of motorsports.
Karts vary in speed and some (Superkart) can reach speeds exceeding 160 mph (250 km/h). A Formula A kart, with a 100 cc 2 stroke engine and an overall weight including the driver of 150 kilograms, can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 85 mph (140 km/h). It takes a little more than 3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph with a 125 cc shifter kart (6 gears), with a top speed of 115 mph (185 km/h) on long circuits.
Now, if I go up there, you guys need to come down here for this.....
Oh ok I just call them Go-Karts. I've seen people race them before and up close at last years nationals. They dragged and also put them on the road coarse...definitly fast little things!
I think it's a great idea you would bring in alot of Business, and really if you think about it will market PTP alot more than it already is so you might as well kill two birds with one stone. Hey john i tried calling you today about the SEE but you must of been busy looking for karts to buy haha!!
PS- i vote if you do get the karts all NWSRT4 owners get Free rides cough cough
