Default uggh, need tires and a life (flame on)

new best time

13.1 on street tires! Not bad considering how bad my tires SUCK! I seriously can't hold any power down. Anyways, the night was fun, made about 7 passes. My first pass was like 13.4@110mph which wasn't bad. The next 2 were slightly faster. My 4th run I missed 4th gear... which sucked because well... bad times. I let my car rest for a while, watched a bunch of races. Some guy had a nova doing 8.4's at like 170mph.

So I decide to make a couple more passes. I get up to the light, stage, launch, it feels good.... like really good. There was a lot of wheel hop but for the most part i held it down. Short shifted to keep some traction, when half throttle through 2nd but lost the tires anyways, I let the car hit the rev limiter hoping to get the mph up just a little so i could launch from 3rd. Shift into 3rd rite into the power-band.... a little too good, I loose the left tire, car goes right, the steer grabs the right tire here comes 4th, smooth shift to a 111mph and 13.1second pass. I made up a LOT of time in the 2nd 1/8th mile. Really wish I didn't spin 3rd too or my times would be well into the 12's.

I decide that I can do better, with the same launch I know I can hold the power if i let off at the exact rite time. I burnout, then something weird happens. I can't get the car back into 1st. After lots of clutching and trying i get it into gear, stage the car... but it doesn't want to stay put. Clutch all the way in, rev up and the car rolls out of the stage, but the tree goes anyways, I red-light but go for it anyways, through 1st gear, not so good, no traction... oh well. I shift to 2nd, hard shift, hold second perfectly (which has NEVER happened before) go to 3rd, engage the clutch, shift but it won't go in. I try to get it into gear again and the shift-ball falls off.........!!!!!!!!!!! omg..... anyways, i give up, coast down for the worst run of my life. I stop, check out my car, everything seems okay but i let it rest anyways.

So I decide 1 more run needs to be made. I think with 1 clean pass I could break 13 on the street tires. I burnout, stage, launch.

BEST LAUNCH EVER! I smoked a 2006 GTO off the LINE! 1.99s 60' which for street tires and no limited slip is crazy. No wheel-spin, go to shift into 2nd, engage the clutch BAM shifter-ball flys off again, I miss 2nd and grind the gears HARD. FUCK IT, I grab the shift stick and slam it into 2nd, flat on my face the GTO pulls ahead of me. I slam 3rd, slam 4th, 112mph @15.4..... the best run of my life foiled by a $10 shifter ball.... God I hate Mopar. Anyways, i broke something.... the car isn't driving rite. It works tho, but something in the tranny is fubar.

anyways, that was my crazy night... there was more.... some random adjustment, a couple PIR burgers, etc....

so i decided I need slicks.... so I can break more shiz

sounds like you mighta done the same thing as me, but maybe not. mine is likely a syncro. havent gotten a call from the dealer today. rig that shifter knob on better and do your burnouts in 2nd gear.

also, in a straight line you dont need limited slip. both tires should fire up.

yeah, i do burnouts in 2nd. I bought a knob that attaches with hex screws today after work. Black, nothing fancy.

I dunno.... I always loose 1 wheel it seems like. Did a launch in the wal-mart parking lot and sure enough, lost the tires at spool in 2nd gear and 1 skid mark.

The car seems to be driving fine now. Could heat make it not go into gear? After that last pull it wouldn't go into ANY gear. I had to turn it off, shift into 1st, and turn it back on just to get back.

Drain your tranny, but use a coffee filter to strain the fluid through. Look for particulates. Change out the fluid with fresh, make sure if you see alot of particulate to flush out. I use Redline MT, shifts smooth, others use Lucas products, both are good synthetics. My 2 cents. Make a note on the color of the particulates.

OK, I just scan these Forums and I don't read every post.

But I do recall seeing a picture of a SRT-4 that was parked on an incline with a rock behind the rear tire. Is that the "e-brock" that you're making reference too?

If so, I'd love to hear more details. My guess is that there has to be a story that goes with the "e-brock."

To the original poster - I enjoyed the write-up.

Yes. The story is:

A NW Subie group, a few SRTs and some wierdo in a Tibby (who had
no CLUE where he was going) all decided to cruise to Detriot Lake down
highway 224. After an exciting drive consisting of tight corners, HUGE
POTHOLES, sunken grades and some ass-hat in a Dodge truck, we finally
made it to Detroit Lake to BBQ (Flat Iron steak was AWESOME).

One of the subie owners took a few pics of all of the cars participating
in the drive. One particular picture showed a red SRT with a BIG ASS
rock under the back passenger tire. Hence, the e-Brock was invented.
Coming soon to a store near you.

note: The e-Brock can be used as a theft deterrent as well.

Thanks for the story and the rationale for the "e-brock." I would have guessed that it was substitute for a failed parking brake assembly.

An entertaining story and an education all in one thread - not a bad deal....
