Yeah I was headed south on the 5 and was traveling behind two other cars in the left lane. We were going about 75 in a 70. I didnt see the guy until he came up on me and flashed me.
He said he was on the overpass and clocked me going 80 in a 70 downhill. I said I was not going over 75 and was just following the traffic ahead.
He brought me back the 10mph over ticket.
That has got to me the most rediculous ticket. How are you gonna pull over a car that was following traffic and at a reasonable speed?!?!?! The freeway around there is just always vacant, it was just us and the occasional car on the right. If I was trying to speed, I would have been a blur.
Has anyone taken one of these to court? What happened with you?
If I was flat out speeding and got caught I wouldn't have a problem with it but this seems like a bored officer having some entertainment.
The cop didnt ask for license or registration and didnt care when I said my address on the license was different (CA license), hell I wrote it down for him fairly quickly but he didnt want it and wrote the other on the ticket. He didnt seem very bright.
Hell if anything I want it changed to a 75 in a 70 just for principal.
Good trafic lawer can get out off easy 90% of the time but it will cost you about 300 bucks for most. speedinginseattle.com is the one i've used in the past (only reason I have zero on record). :0)
Hey moltenice what area was this in? I have seen ALOT of partol from marysville pretty much to bellingham. Also I believe wsp is using a new radar or something because my passport 8500 got its first no pickup while radar was pointed toward the flow of traffic last week for me.

yeah but sometimes they stand there with the radar gun pointed at traffic just for the sheer presence of an officer radaring you, when the radar is not actually on..

10 over, DOH! I guess that's a lot better than getting caught doing a Dorifto.
BTW, you're not on I5 going down to Palomar Mountain in SD anymore. You can't drive like that up here. They are bored with nothing to do. They write 10 over.
If I was in san diego I would have been going 85-90........ But I was going 75 max being good and got a ticket. I HATE the WSP. You see them all over the place and I hear stories about them all the time. I dont mind law enforcement (I got hired with the CHP and head off there in 3 years) but stupid infractions piss me off.
I went on dozens of Highway patrol ride alongs with different officers and they would agree giving someone a ticket for 5-10 over when thats the flow of traffic and no abnormal conditions exist, is retarded.
I am just gonna show up in uniform and just talk with the judge.
Ya just show up with out a representative, ticket will be served. Cop was probably trying to get to the hospital to see his wife that was comforting his dying child.
Thats what ya get for street racing.............and 75. THATS IT. you know thtas like merging speed down here. i would have sooo many tickets if i was up there. you know how i drive. good luck with it.
dont just expect to one day walk into a courtroom and win the case. do your research. check with the court clerk to see how you get a copy of the officers statement. different courts have different way of 'obtaining discovery' as it is called.
next call a lawyer with the info and dont procrastinate. if you need the attorneys help they need to have a clear schedule that day. if things go great you can pass the ticket and a personal check to somebody like doug silva or speedinginseattle.com and never worry about it again.
i gotta git on mine too 11 over one mile from my house. my speedo said 7 over.
